and what are we paying the post office to check and send it for if the passport office can reject it anyway, i thought the post office staff were trained to check the form properly and it automatically passed.
I assume this means that you will forfeit the fee if you fail to supply additional photos/information and therefore fail to continue with your application. As long as you supply the photos/information they ask for, it should be okay.
Yes, that's correct, you will only forfeit the passport fee if you fail to send in the documents/photos etc.
Or take too long to do so. (You should be given a couple of warnings prior to this happening though)
Or if the applicant isn't actually entitled to a British passport.
The post office staff are not fully trained and only check that the form is fully completed and that the photos are up to standard.
As I mentioned previously, if the IPS have to write out for documents or photos, then you will probably be able to claim your check and send fee back.
