Will let you know galaxygirl, have a lovely time
Got back from the petra mare on 8 oct after 1 week. Anyone with doubts about going to this hotel DON'T worry you will love it. we are booking for next years holiday already. will put a full report on the review page if anyones interested.
I am looking to book a holiday for myself, my boyfriend and another couple, we are all aged between 20 and 23. We have looked at the hotel Petra Mare and although it seems a very nice hotel, we wondered if it might be more of a family hotel and not suitable for two young couples. Can anyone shed any light on this?
The Petra Mare from my experience is very much a family hotel though we did see some couples there during our stay last July/August but they were older couples rather than younger. Obviously with it being a family hotel you are going to experience a lot of children and the entertainment is very family orientainted.
This is just my personal view, I hope it is of some help to you

Stopping at this hotel for 2 weeks at the end of May, and just wonderingabout cash access. I realise that the town itself is quite small but are there any cash machines? I usually just take my cash card away with me but now Im wondering if travellers cheques are the way to go? HEEEELP!!!!
we've just booked for the petra mare late september, we are a party of 7 ages ranging from 12 to 68 and having read the mainly favourable reviews are looking forward to holiday. However, i wondered if anyone could give any information on what drinks are available on AI, we noticed that the food ratings are not too great and wondered what type of food is actually available and basically any info or tips would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance
k
The drinks available at PetraMare AI are Draught lager, white wine and rose wine on tap, all spirits are local ones not branded, scotch, gin, bacardi, ouzo. Any branded spirits could be bought from the bar. Soft drinks, coke, lemondade etc and hot drinks tea & coffee. All the drinks are served in plastic cups unless you sit in or around the bar area. It was very windy when we went in July/August last year and the plastic cups did have a tendancy to blow over.
The food did get quite repetative, personally we struggled with the food but then again it's down to personal taste so don't let this put you off. You can eat in the restaurant of a lunch time though we tended to use the snack bar which again is pretty much the same everyday.
There was a long running thread for this hotel which I've found for you, click on the link below, there may be some hints and tips for you there.

Hi Supersox,
Thanx for that! silly question but do you remember if there was a kettle in the hotel room? I star to flap when holidays get closer and start to worry over silly things! Now its do I need a travel kettle!!
Supersox99
Yes you'll need a travel kettle for the room. I'll give you a tip, rather than go out and buy milk we used to fill a plastic cup with milk on our way out of the restaurant and keep it in the fridge in the room, you could do the same with sugar
Anything else you need to know please feel free to ask.

hi everyone.me and my hubby and 4 children are going to the preta mare hotel on june 6th 2006 and wondered if any one knows if there are any places that will be showing the world cup games live,me and the kids are footie mad and because my holiday company changed our departure date it now clashes with englands 1st 3 matches, although i couldnt ask for more, sun, sea and footie.thanks in advance for your replies
we go in september so you'll hopefully be able to tell us what it is like. i'm not into football myself but i'm sure i've read about a couple of bars close bar with big screens (cafe on the rocks rings a bell) so you should be able to see your match(s). There is a really long topic on petra mare on this site if you look at some of the older topics it is there and should answer most of your questions i know it did mine.
have a good time
K
