Hi Gang, we may get down to the Algarve on the 3rd Sept for a week but it doesnt coincide with your dates unfortunatley and then we visit again on the 13th to 21st Oct, would be nice if we could all meet up at some stage on our visits to Portugal, bet Perry & Karen would enjoy us all being together from the forum at Floyds Bar it would be a laugh. We would just like to say how nice it is to hear of other people who love the Algarve as much as us.We have been going twice a year for the past 12 years and we know some of our friends think we are very strange that we keep going back but we have been other places and no where compares.

Yes we are there in September we go on 9th for 2 weeks this is earlier than we normally go as our daughter is getting married in October( most inconvenient!)Do tell us where the bar is that you go to in Lagos as we stop in Vau but always have a train ride to Lagos.

The little bar we tend to use (well the owners have become friends really now)is the Acores bar and it's virtually opposite Stevie Ray's Blues bar.
However the Acores doesn't normally open until about 8.30pm, so I don't think it would be practical for you if you've a train to catch.
Watch this thread,however,as there seems a possibility of a H.T. get-together round about the time you'll be out there.

Possibility???? I would say its a certainty. After all what else have we got to do?
Don't want to be left out as we will be there at that time too but it's too far for us to come from Cabanas as transport is not too frequent, especially at night........and we wouldn't want to drive now, would we

Have I missed something - has a venue been agreed and, if so, could somebody tell me ?I would have thought that, in view of the fact that public transport shuts down fairly early, it would have to be during the day unless I've missed a vital post and it's all been sorted out.

It's me jumping the gun as usual.........rightly or wrongly, I just assumed that as most of you are round the Lagos/Albufeira area that something would be organised in that vicinity. The talk about the reaction in Floyd's bar if we all trooped in added to my assuming it would be there or thereabouts.
However, don't count me out if something can be arranged

Would have thought that neither Tavira nor Lagos would give everyone a reasonable chance of attending if they wished. Albufeira is about as central as one could hope to get, but the problem is that the railway station is well outside the town.Does anyone know what is in the vicinity of the station in the way of bars (or church halls) where we could meet or does anyone have other suggestions as to venue ?Answers in a sealed envelope please to ........................

We arrived at Albufeira station in January this year when we were staying for a week in Praia d'Oura. Got straight into a taxi but as far as I remember, there was only a tiny little bar that the old men were sitting at (hubby calls them holes in the wall).
Think they might all have heart attacks if we all piled out there!!!!!!!!!

The date's not a problem for us,but we'll be restricted to somewhere accessible by rail which itself will restrict us to daytime/early evening.
Sounds like the railway then. So Faro would be cool. Can you get a train from Albufeira to Faro Sagres?
