Worth remembering that by the time you go next year Cyprus will have introduced the Euro & therefore prices may have gone up slightly As is the case when other countries have joined everything gets rounded up

I always advise people to take enough spending money as if you were going out every evening/day at home in the UK as drinks are pretty comparable...albeit the measures are larger so you might not need as much Being half board will save money though.

Spending money is a very emotive subject and one that gets asked an awful lot on the forums, but no 2 people are the same and so it can vary hugely between people as to what they do/expect to spend whilst on holiday.

I've been going to Cyprus for 20+ years and the advise above usually stands me in good stead as to what to take. If you plan to hire a car, do trips etc. then that needs seperating I think from "spending" money as these are extras IMO

Thanks funnyboy, (apt name!?) We only spent £200 when we went AI, but it's half board were doing this year.

We do self catering, eating in about 4 times over the fortnight.
We eat out every other night, with a couple of drinks each, we eat snack lunches with a drink or 2 whilst we are out every day, plus a frappe every morning and a drink in the afternoons. A few ice creams thrown in for good measure.

Always buy the English language local papers. (Cyprus mail and Weekly)

We eat breakfast in, usually toast or cereal and coffee which we buy on a credit card when we do a main shop as soon as we arrive. Milk we buy every other day out of the spendo's.

The last 2 years we took £700 Sterling and brought well over £100 back.

Hello! We are going to Konnos Bay in a few weeks. Any idea how much spending money we will need for the 2 weeks? We are self catering and planning on going to either Protaras or Ayia Napa most nights but we will not be hiring a car?

We usually go self catering, no car, and spend around £1000 Cyp£ between the pair of us for 2 weeks. Depends how often you eat/drink out though really.

ps - small tip - get the bus to your chosen evening destination. Only 80c each. It will mount up over the fortnight. Taxi home of-course, but agree the price before you get in.

During the main peak period I think its every half an hour during the day. They're actually pretty reliable. and its 80c each no matter how far you go.

The bus runs from Paralimni, through Protaras into Ayia Napa (and vice versa). The hotel will give you a timetable, but you'll soon get used to it.

Try going into Paralimni on the bus while you're there. Its a proper town rather than just a resort and has some great cafes bars and shops. The Phenomena cafe does a great frappe for £1.

Another tip. The bus stops at a large supermarket called Orphanides (its between Protaras and Paralimni). If you're self catering its worth a trip there - maybe a taxi home if you buy a lot, but the fresh fruit and veg will be much cheaper and fresher than the local small supermarkets and there's a lot more choice. Try to buy local brands rather than imports.

Last September we walked to Orphanides from Pernera to buy beef to make Stifado (you can't get it that we could find in Pernera) and got a bus back from across the road. I must add that it was a long walk admiring, watching, looking etc.... (and we wanted a bus back... lol )

My god Steve, that was a long walk Must have taken a good 2 days of your holiday !

We were in Ayia Triada and I did it once and nearly collapsed Like you we got the bus back....

Also walked from Ayia Triada to Pernera and wasn't much better, ( thank goodness for 'watering holes' along the way ).
