From what I can gather the salvage company got favourable reports from central gov. re the standard of work so far, and will likely be given an extention till Oct to carry out the job. Other reports suggest that the mineowner, who has been dragging his feet, and trying to get it broken up where she is, was a big contributor to the Congress parties election fund, and since the recent election, they are now the biggest party, make of that what you will !! Anyone out there just now who can give us an update, the removal was scheduled to take place the end of Oct. (Ha Ha) Also what kind of damage has been done to the Sinquirm end of the beach this monsoon ? Alan

Alan,

Have a nice day, there is no point in me posting a reasonable comment here as this forum is managed by controlled freaks.

That is good news. Was beginning to think it would be like holidaying in a shipyard!

Roll on December - only 7 weeks (not that I am counting).

Has anyone got an update on the River Princess. We are going out early January and I was hoping the boat would have been moved,We have visited Goa for the last 4 years and every year we are told the boat will be gone by our next visit.
It would be great to sit in Ganesh's shack and be able see right across the horizon.

Hi Mogsy, Ganesh shack for us too - sad news is, they are now deciding as to wether or not to extend the time allocated to the company who are in the process of removing it,or to bring in another.
The company who worked on it last year have got the furthest so far, when they discoverd the bottom of the tanker was in a poor condition they could not go any further until the monsoons were over. So... here's hoping they allow them to continue as they seem to know what is needed to move it (maybe...).
Looks as though our view will be a pile of scrap again - bliss !!

Any updates on the River Princess, is she still there?

We use James shack every year and it would be lovely not to have to look at this eyesore again in January.
