Hi,

I'm flying from Belfast to Sanford Orlando on flight MYT055. I've just discovered that this is being operated by the B767, much to my disappointment, was looking forward to another trip in the A330.
Could anyone tell me what the IFE is like? I know they don't have seat back screens but are the overheads anyway half decent? (just of a monarch 757 and the colour was gone in alot of the screens  )

Also any seats we should try to request at check-in? I've no experience of a 767.

Thanks

GlaVet,

IFE is provided via ceiling mounted CRT screens located above the isles. I hate these on the 767 because the high ceilings mean you have to look up and it gives you neck ache after a while. Also, because of the overhead storage areas, you often can't see the screens or they are partially blocked when sat in window seats or the central two seats. This isn't exclusive to MYT's 767's, its a common problem for this aircraft type. The aircraft are configured 2-4-2 with 30" seat pitch. As for seats, it's personal preference really. They're all much the same so just a question of if you prefer towards the front, wing or back.

Safe journey.

I Sat In Seat 21A If You Are On SJMC.. Its A Good Seat If You Like The Engine In View And A Bit Off The Wing.

The Screen Was Near 21.. So It Didnt Give YOu Alot Of Neck Ache..

But I Couldnt Do 10 Hours On It

Thanks for the replies!!
Heres hoping theres some problem and we get changed to an A330 (unlikely I know).

@jamz1107
You said you sat near the Engine... was there much noise in comparison to the airbus? I only ask cause I came back from Egypt recently on a Monarch 757 and the noise levels on it were terrible in comparison to any airbus I've been on before.
Where would be the quietest seats on the plane?

Thanks

GlaVet,

I've spent lot's of time as a passenger on 767's and Airbus A330's (about 80 hours up to press). Compared to the A332, the 767 cabin is a little noisier. The A332 was designed to give passengers as queit a ride as possible with plenty of sound insulation and more modern, higher bypass turbo-fans (Rolls-Royce onboard MYT's). The A332 is the quietest large jet in the sky from a passengers perspective. The 767 is a little noisier, but nothing to worry about. If you sit adjacent to the engines on any aircraft, it is going to be a little noisier on take off and landing for obvious reasons. In the cruise, you'll not notice much of a difference. The extremes of the aircraft are the quietest areas, particularly the front. That's the main reason why business / first class and premium cabins are often located at the front of the aircraft.

Thanks for all your help Darren!
Just one last question, what is the first row of the standard class cabin on the MYT 767? (actually the first row is probably extra-legroom?) Going to try and request a seat up there at check-in.

Thanks Again,

GlaVet,

The first row of economy is row 6, possibly 7 (they sometimes miss out a row number when they remove them). There are 5 rows of premium seating seperated from the economy cabin by a curtain. Jamz will be able to answer your question better than me since he's travelled on the MYT 767's more recently.

We sat in row 6 on the way home after paying for the extra legroom. Row 7 was the first row of non paying seats then row 14 was the next lot of extra leg rooms seats too.

I Think The First Row Of Economy Is Around Row 7.

charlie cheeko,

Did you not check what was included before shelling out the extra? For more information, click here. If you let me have your flight number, I'll confirm the aircraft type. It should be an Airbus A330-243. For a seating plan, click here.

PS Please keep questions to a single thread. I read all the posts so I don't normally miss questions. If I do, there are others who pick them up. It's easier to reply to and track one thread than multiple ones and it also minimises duplication. Thanks

i have just booked for me and my partner to go to las vegas in october 08 and was wondering if anyone can give me info on what sort of aircraft it would likely be and also if i should upgrade to premier Gold :D

partygirl24,

MYT use their Airbus A330-243's on the LAS flights. All the info you need on these aircraft is covered on this thread. As for Prem Gold upgrade, only you can decide if its worth the upgrade or not. You are essentially paying for greater seat pitch. See my post to charlie cheeko above.
