Hiya can anyone tell me if you can buy ciggies in the shop at the holl village if not where is nearest place , any info would be grateful thanks izzy

Cant buy cigs at airport or plane. They sold cigs in a machine on site by the snack bar about 3euros and they did have some english brands. Only place that sells them is called a Tabbac the nearest one is in Benalmadena - we got a taxi from reception 10 euros each way and asked to be dropped at a tabbac. My advice is to take enough with you so you dont have to worry about finding a tabbac straight away. Cigs cost about 30 euros for 200 someone said they were a bit cheaper in torremolinos and they were 32 euros at malaga airport where they also have smoking rooms just ask for directions. Just got back yesterday had a great time .. enjoy

Hiya, new to the forum, and have only lurked while reading the varied posts about the HV. We're going in 10 days and have a few questions, if anyone can help please do......

(1) Are there any cash machines within the holiday village?
(2) Can you smoke in the room or on the balcony?
(3) Are they still filling the room fridges daily with drinks?
(4) How does the All Inclusive system work, do they tell you where and what you can have or do you find out for yourself?
(5) What time do the bars close in the evening, and are there set hours that the AI is in force.
(6) Can the kids help themselves to ice creams, drinks, kids food (burgers, pizza, hotdogs etc etc) during the day.

Any info at all will be much appreciated.

there is a cash machine in reception, all inclusive is snacks by the main pool, 10 til 6.30 burgers toasties etc the things all inc have a little blue sign next to them breakfast and dinner is in the main hotl or you can book to go to the mexican and italian once a week each. book at reception inbetween 10 and 12 book as soon as paces get filled up very quick and if theres no spaces then you cant go and there is a buffet lunch over at the restaurant in the beach club.
tou get a can of coke two small waters and a carton of juice in the room. kids can go and order food at the snack bar for themselves,
all inclusive is til 12 in the night entertainment outside and bar til 11.30 then the irish bar is open til around 2 not sure about the piano bar think its til 12. saw people smoking on balconies so that should be fine not sure bout in room would say no .

:) Thanks for your swift reply.
Just wanting to ask about the wave pool and slides are they ok for a six year old?
Getting excited now,
are the rooms and bedrooms big?
Last thing i think Should we hire a car or take the bus?
Reply
you use big rubber rings to go down the slides of the wave pool and could go on them with your 6 year old. The wave pool is very deep and when the waves are on every one bobs on theyre rings - but i would say no way you could leave young kids in wave pool alone its a strong wave and very choppy. Rings are hired from beach club reception 3 euros per day plus 17 euros deposit per ring.

rooms are very big escpecially for all in where you only get a bedroom normally. there are two 3/4 beds in bedroom and then sofa bed in living room.be wary of the wave pool very deep and quite choppy we were only there for opening day and no rings were available. nightmare although nine year old is a strong swimmer couldnt watch him and look after myself very difficult as so deep and rough but with a ring would be alot easier but do not take your eyes off him when in there. my words when no rings were available was this thing is a deathtrap. good fun but have your wits about you.
about the car bus thing its up to you and depends where you want to go. myself i would not even think of hiring a car as theres no rules on the road i think its better to shut your eyesput your foot on the gas and hope for the best. depends on if your use to driving abroad. the bus stops outside and is only about one euro to go up and down the coast to belemadena, fueingrola, torremilinos etc. taxis only bout 10 euro to go to the waterpark and tivoli etc. you can catch a bus but bit of a trek to get to them also up the road is a train station which takes you to many resorts very good i heard. so for me cars a no as everythings easily accessible but its up to you.if you want any info on tyhe best way to get to attractions ask and ill try to help.

There is a train line that runs behind the hotel at the moment but there is no actual work going on, however LOTS of building works going on again behind the hotel this starts early in the morning but we were not disturbed by it as the double glazing muffed the sounds , but during the day the noise of the cranes did go on your nerves as every time they moved they emitted a bleeping sound. When you go next year I should think that all building work will have been completed. :D

Hi,when we stayed at the H.V. in april the complexes own booklet stated that eventually a staion is being built to accommodate all the hotels on the complex. This looked as if it was directly at the back near the tunnel.May be this is what they are reffering to. :) regards

When I drive past it there looks like a huge building site on one side.

Hi
Five days to go and counting.. Just wondering if there is an iron or any ironing facilities at HV.
Thanks

Yes there is a launderette/ ironing room on the lower ground floor. I didn't use it as I always take my portable iron. However people were complaining that washing powder, softener etc was quite expensive in the hotel shop.

My husband jogged for a good half hour most mornings and never reached the shops, the hotel is quite a way from civilisation. We found very few cigarette shops but there is a lovely one on the front in Fuengirola. The cheapest we found was on our day trip to Gibralta however you are restricted on what you can bring through customs there. 8)

We have just booked to go to the Holiday Village in 2 weeks time and at the travel agent they said to book and pay for all inclusive when we get there. Can anyone tell me the price we will have to pay there will be 2 adult and 1 child aged 4, and is it worth it. We are going for 1 week . :?:

thought i posted this yesterday, but must have got it wrong somehow!

I am going to the HV on the 8th Sept for 2 weeks with my wife and 3 year old daughter. The main reason for this is the dissapointing holiday we had earlier in the year, and we felt so guilty for my daughter that she didnt have a better time - although she did enjoy it without realising how much better it could have been, if you get what i mean - that we booked another (dont think she will grow up spoiled by any chance!? lol )

A few q's if I may!

a>The water slides etc around the hotel - are they height/age restricted? My little madam is a right adventure seeker and although just about to turn three she will be after going up everything for a go! Natrually accompanied by her daddy :)
b>What time does the kids entertainment starts? ONe of the reasons for the previous bad holiday was that the entertainment started so late that the kids were knackered and naughty by the time it began!

c>How good is the kids entertainment? Yes, I know the repetitive songs and dances etc are extremely annoying for us adults, but its for the kids and they love that sort of thing. Is there some effort put into the kids entertainment?

d>Are there sill problems with the tiles around the pool cutting peoples feet?

e>How safe generally do you find the resort makes you feel in terms of kids? How about the kids clubs?

Sorry for the pain in the butt questions, but just want to be prepared, and would appreciate as much help to get prepared as possible!! :)

I can answer a few of your questions but my grandchildren were 11 and 14 so can't tell you about the childrens clubs for your 3 year old. Firstly there are two slides one smaller than the other but she will not be able to go on her own especially if the wave pool is on. My kids found it really rough in the pool at this time. You hire rubber rings to use on these slides at the beach club reception 20 euros a day , when you return the ring at the end of the day you get 17 euros back so not too bad really. We did not notice anyone complaining about cut feet although the small mosaic tiles at the bottom of the pools were loose and some children had quite a collection of them by the end of the holiday. However your daughter will love the ten or eleven pools with squirting jets coming out of the ground. if you take my advice when you enter the beach club don't go to the left as beds and unbrellas were snapped up there early, go straight up the stairs ahead of you and turn right at the top there were always beds etc there up to about 12 noon, Why people didn't go to that area I don't know as it had everything a large kids pool ,an adults only jacquzzi pool, a squirting water jet area, a snack bar and the main restaurant . There was also a wooden play house, ideal for you I would think. As for security there is a guard at the entrance to the village 24/7. The entertainment starts at 8pm with kids disco then at nine there is bingo and 10pm the adults entertainment begins.Hope this helps hope you enjoy. I'm sure you will as its a fab resort.Be warned the walk over to the beach club which opens at 10am takes about 10 minutes.

hi edge2006
just read your review on your holiday to gran canaria which does sound pretty awful. i am sure that you will have a fab time at the holiday village. we have recently returned and fully agree with all that aharding has said, and i also believe that your daughter will love the kids clubs.
thanks to jenkins4 for your advice on the wave pool, it can be very dangerous but plenty of lifegaurds on duty.
could not really fault the holiday village and am sure we will return for our third visit one day.
john.
