No my partner tries to get Guinness in the irish bar, and unfortunately it is only locally produced drinks. Althought suprissingly the red wine is actually nice.
Does anyone remember the hypnotist who was there the 28/29th August? I took part in the show and paid for a dvd but haven't received it yet. If anyone was there can you remember his name, so I can try and contact him.
Thanks!
Hi.That show was the highlight of our hols!!!!! Sorry! We think his name was Stewart Ashing or something like that.Which poor person were you!
The one that ran and jumped on stage at the end to get the "James Bond" Ha how funny. It's quite embarrassing to see now though.
Glad i was able to entertain. Lol
I'm off to the Hol Village on 7th Oct, any idea what the weather will be like then, will we require jumpers for the evening?
Also is there no way you can walk to either Fuengirola or Benalmedena (we do a lot of walking and 4 mile is quite normal for us)???
Many thanks for your help

Ive uploaded some photos from Aug 07 they include the wave pool before opening time. The kitchen and lounge bed etc. You can find them under Spain.Costa Del Sol.Benelmadena.Holiday village. Hope they are of use to some of you
Hi all, Just got back today from a great week in Holiday Village. Weather was very hot most of the week with a bad storm Wednesday. Wave pool now closed for rest of season. I believe the Hotel closes the end of this month. It is a bit of a walk to Benalmedena, only did it once. The busses are cheep enough but do get full. All in all we had a great time. Hope you enjoy your holiday..
I note you have just returned from the holiday village. We are due to go this Saturday but you say the wave pool and beach club will be closed.
According to the brochure it is open in October. Can you or anybody else please confirm if it will be closed.
Is the entertainment inside or out and any good?
Any tips on Taxis or buses or how long to walk as you did once?
Thanks
Hi 1Hock, we arrived on Friday 28th sept and the wave pool was open, but on the 1st of October it closed untill next season. The beach club was still open. If you are going AI the drinks are free in the beach club but not the food. If you want food you will have to treck back over the bridge to the snack bar/main Hotel. There is the usual entertainment during the day. The in2action guys trying to get you to play golf/bowls/archery and water polo. Evening entertainment is a bit low key at this time in the season. Music on the terrace provided by 3 Amigo`s in sombrero`s then followed by organ and vocals till about 11:15pm then Spanish music via CD`s. As for touring about we only had a walk to Belamedina the once, and it was a bit of jaunt. It only cost us 1.10euro to Torremolinos on the bus. Busses were quite packed thou. We had a taxi from Fuengirola to Holiday Village and it cost us 15 euro`s. We found the majority of guests to be Brits. The food is excellent, well cooked and plentiful. Bacon/egg/sausage/mushrooms/tomatoes/beans and fried bread for breakfast.......Hope it helps. If you need any more info send me a PM and I will do my best. If not have a great holiday......mike
Am planning to go to holiday village...can you upgrade to all inclusive after you get there or do you have to book it like that from the start?
Hi you can upgrade once you get there, But i'm thinking (what i remembered) if you do it by the day the all inclusive doesn't include the drink it's just food. But not sure if you do it for the length of your stay if you know what i mean. It's cheaper to do it over here.
Hi, booked to go to the Holiday Village half term in April 6th, what is the weather usually like this time of year? Don't expect it to be Hot, but does it rain a lot and will we need our coats? Pleased to hear.
we are going to the holiday village in july 2008 for 7 nights on a self catering basis, can anyone tell me how much it is to upgrade to all inclusive at the hotel.
last years prices would be a great help. there are 2 adults and a 15 yr old.
this will be our 2nd time here and can't wait to go back.
many thanks, simon.
I'll give my review on return
March 15th
Well were back, What a fantastic week! Weather was great, Warm by day, little chilly at night, we escaped the 80mph winds you lot had here in the UK
The Kids loved every minute, they were entertained every day by the in2action team, who registered the two children and gave us sign in/out cards, without them you cannot take or drop off the children so don't forget them in2action gave out bags with goodies in free to the children
(downside, was being charged for 2 evening activities by the in2action for the children, bit sneaky 5 euros per child even though went AI)
The Hotel Staff were also great, did find on the first day no towels in the room but thats normal, they did that last May when i went, just a quick call to reception sorted it within 3 hours, Spanish don't care about time at all!
and once during week beds were not made. Room was very clean apart from bit of damp in corner of door, must been upstairs flooded bathroom
at some point
Food was good, a bit cold but if you got their early as it opens, then i find its hotter
were not able to order tea and coffee at Lunch and Teatime, annoying, did not find this before, you know us english we have tea/coffee
anytime of the day
kept trying to serve us beer instead, hmmm was a bit early for me
Had to go to the Colonial Bar for tea's and coffee's instead
Colonial Bar Staff were as per normal, under staffed and noticed a few people moaning and groaning
I just went with the flow and waited approx 15-20mins to be served (during very busy peak periods, evenings)
Lifts were a bit of a pain this time round as we ended up in the other block (paraiso) seemed was not as up to standard as the main block well thats my opinion, lifts kept breaking down so had to use alternative, stairs or other lifts
Just a few downs but mainly ups, Really enjoyed the week and would as always go back again.
Oh and room 244 in Paraiso has an outside shower hahaha its the plant sprinklers from upstairs apartment hahaha, my partner was out on the balcony one morning and got showered,
we did see the funny side.
we went to Selwo (dolphin show) was fantastic very very nice park with plenty of animals
about 50-60 euros for family of four in Benalmadena via bus at 4euros40 for 2 adults 2 children
Also took the ferry from Benalmadena Puerto to Fuengirola, was fantastic, also saw Holiday Village from the sea amazing views of the costa
8 euros per adult 5 euro per child one way, 60 minute journey with bar on board
Park de paloma was lovely too, free to enter and many animals, peacocks, chickens, rabbits the lot also in benalmadena
All in all Was Excellent, Mind was more aimed at the children enjoying it and they did every minute
10 euros for remote control (deposit)
12 euros for WIFI (wireless internet) handy for my Nokia N95 calls back to uk via skype etc
Safety deposit box was something like 2 euros a day rental and a small deposit
The Donkey on the Hill is still alive and well so I heard from other residents lol, I wanted to hear for myself but was in other block lol
Last note hoping them little things improve as the season gets warmer, perhaps it because we went after couple weeks of opening, mind was very suprised on how many people was their, was very very busy met some great people
Any Questions feel free to ask

To be fair to First Choice though, they have given us a full redund with no cancellation fee.
To be honest Sharon, if it was raining, there would be nothing for you to do in the Beach Club anyway, you'd be more likely to stay in the main hotel! Thats where all the kids clubs etc are held too.
2 weeks with kids who were looking forward to the pirate ship, wave pool and sprinklers to be told that they couldn't go on them is not a good holiday! My two would actually still go out in the rain, after all you get wet anyway. Going to Gran Canaria now where everything is open year round.
Haven't given up on the Holiday Village, but would go at peak season to be sure of the amenities being open.
ah ok, see you what you mean. can't blame you for wanting to change then. The wave pool opened the day after we left last year :-(
It seems that there are various problems with the Egypt property which is reminisent of what happened at the HV Benal in 2004. We were not prepared to pay a vast amount of money not to have a good holiday so decided to return to the Benal property. Had a brilliant time in 2004 and am hoping to have a good time again.
Anyone going in July/August who has been before?
