I've never seen anyone have to do that, and there is no need to because there is usually another entrance to the outside Pool area that can be used by holidaymakers not staying at that particular Hotel.

I don't agree with that, I can think of 2 off the top of my head i.e The Sol Pelicanos/ Ocas and the Flamingo Oasis, I'm sure that there are many more too.

I personally think that it's is very very ignorant indeed to reserve sunbeds and I have often removed towels after observing that the beds are not been used and haven't been for some considerable time. Further more, I have never been challenged for doing so but I have experienced people turning up hours later looking sheepish and scurrying off with their towels under their arms.

Serves them right.

The nits scene was a bit OTT in my opinion.Nits are so small they are hard to see and dont usually leave the hair until they hatch!.They must have been on their holiday too!.

Well, as I said SUE, it is the case in all the Hotels that I have stayed in in Benidorm. I never said it was the case with all Hotels in Benidorm.

For example, you can access the pool area of the Castillia Hotel from the street, without having to go inside the Building.

I apologise for misreading your post, however as the doors open around 7.30am-8.30am I really can't see many non residents setting their alarm clocks to dash to place their towels on a sunbed can you?

Nope. Indeed not. Well, put it like this, I would not  Resident or not.

And yes, I also agree, the Nits scene was a bit OTT

Good for you Sue - removing the towels - I would do it too! Cheeky devils sneaking down in the morning and not returning until midday. Makes my blood boil.

I enjoyed the programme. Stayed in Benidorm this year for the first time(old town, Terralta Appts) Was very apprehensive as we'd read some negative remarks about Benidorm..........but......... We absolutely loved it.

Now, if anyone or any programme criticises it,
it feels the same as someone criticising a member of my family or a very close friend! How dare they!!!!!

I hope they show a bit of the Old Town too. Am looking forward to next weeks episode!

We stayed at he Ambassador and believe me if you want a sun bed you have to queue, I observed loads off people puting there towels out then going to the market on market days but I am not as brave as Sue, I really wish I was though good for you Sue xxxxxxxxx

Just hope they show the other side to Benidorm there is something for everyone, Razzamatz ,old town, and the quieter side if you want it. It is not all about having a booze up and night clubs and English food. Only 9 days to go when I can do all those things (if I want to). :D

Anyone know if it is going to be repeated please?

Had it all set to record ... even left a note for my son and his mate to make sure it was on the correct channel if they watched any TV ... and guess what? snuggled up on couch last night to watch it and it had taped the bloody discovery channel ... grrrrrr.

We have stayed in three hotels and two apts in Benidorm and there was a race everymorning to reserve the beds. Mick always removes towels if they havn't been used for a few hours, it's really funny watching the owners coming back. 8) And I sympathised with the family with nits, the bairn had them the week before he broke up for the 6 weeks holidays. If it had of been me, I would of been relieved to have it brought to my attention, hopefully stopping them spreading. I have had to tell people they have headlice in the past as I was a hairdresser, some people were really nasty but it's all part of life in "nit"

I enjoyed the Mayor piece too

Though his planning for Benidorm and the forced creation of the Avda Mediterraneo are commendable, I can't appreciate a man who was so in and supportive of General Franco, a fact kindly glossed over in the history of Benidorm

And the entertainment guy talking about getting a taxi from the Ambassador (Reymar/Riveira then) to the nearest bar brought back many many memories!

if i watched that program before ever going to benidorm i would of never gone, i think it made it look a mess. However ive been twice and planning on going back every year and we love it. However we will only go back to the one hotel FO

The fact remains that had he been an elected mayor, without the job security that went with being an appointed one, Benidorm as we know it probably wouldn't exist. How can you not like a guy who studied for a tourism qualification in his mid seventies after the career he'd had?

He was also quite a risk taker, not towing the 'party line', allowing bikinis for example. He was also concerned about health and safety, making sure that water and suage were being piped in and out.

CAN I JUST SAY THAT AS I PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAMME, I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IT DID NOT SHOW ALL THE FOOTAGE ACTUALLY FILMED. MANY, MANY COMPLIMENTARY THINGS WERE SAID ABOUT THE BRITISH TOURISTS AND UNFORTUNATELY THESE WERE EDITED OUT. WHAT WE ACTUALLY BELIEVED WE WERE DOING AT THE TIME WAS SHOW THAT BENIDORM HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AND IS AN ENJOYABLE FUN PLACE TO STAY, SOME OF US WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAMME JUST WANTED TO SHOW HOW HARD WE WORK IN MAKING THE HOLIDAYMAKERS FEEL WELCOME AND AT HOME. WE DO FEEL WRONGLY INTERPRETED, AND I AM SURE THIS WILL BE DEALT WITH AT A LATER STAGE. HOWEVER, FOR ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAS BEEN OFFENDED BY ANY OF THE COMMENTS MADE, I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGISE AS THIS WAS NEVER MY INTENTION.

Discussion seems to have veered off in a different direction, based on assumptions made about the identity of new member 'UNPACKED'. It may be unfair and inappropriate to speculate on the identity of this member, if he/she has chosen not to reveal it in the post and so I have therefore deleted several replies.

If you are posting again UNPACKED, could I ask please that you turn your Caps Lock off.

Many thanks.

So what did you all think about the 2nd episode?

I think matthews dolly girl just wanted to be featured on the programme.
Reply
I was dissapointed myself. Several scenes were just rehashed repeats of scenes from the first episode. To be honest, I see very little point in the programme now.

I was looking forward to it, but I doubt I will bother with the last episode next week now.

Bearing in mind that these are real people appearing in what is supposed to be a humorous but factual programme, rather than ficticious characters appearing in a comedy series, can I just ask please that any comments are considered very carefully before posting or we may have to lose this discussion.

Many thanks
