It,s a wonderfull experience, in our opinion streets ahead of the Golden Triangle. Eddie from Daytripper put our trip together. We flew up to Delhi one afternoon and stayed overnight, we got the early morning express to Amritser and was met at tnhe station and taken to our hotel for lunch, we were then taken up to the border to see the changing of the guard at whagga, after that to the Goden Temple for our first visit, then to our hotel overnight The next morning we visited the Temple again before the late afternoon train back to Delhi and another overnight stay. The next morning we toured Delhi seeing some things new, including the National Railway Museum !! then the afternoon flight back to Goa. I've toured quite a bit round India over tne years but The Golden Temple was by far the highlight, nowhere in my travels have I seen anything to compare it with. If you only visit one place in India I'd say make it Amritser Alan
Just to let you know Spicejet say they are now accepting foreign credit card bookings with effect from 22 September 2007, so you don't have to rely on Amex.
I booked with spice jet yesterday, it cost 99.98 for tow return tickets, great value. I used nationwide flexi account with no charges.
In the Herald today
Its a good job they only want email addresses and not names
I don't think they would let me back in the country
May I please inquire as to a rough cost for your trip you took from Goa to see the Golden Temple in Amritsar?
Was there an option to fly from Delhi to Amritsar?
Many thanks,
Patricia ':wave'
I cant remember the cost and it was two years ago but if you emailed Eddie at Daytrippers in Calangute he'd give you a price as he arranged our trip
Whoever you chose however, make sure you get a good guide, the one Daytripper supplied was a young Sikh, whose father owned a small travel agency, he spoke excellent English, had spent time in the U.K. and without him we would never have scratched the surface of the Golden Temple and Amritser. As its a religious site and central to the Sikh faith I would say it would be impossible to visit the Temple under your own steam and get a proper insight to it. Alan
Thanks for the info, I'll get my husband to do some research and I'll drop a line to your man in Goa. Sounds a very exciting trip.

We hired an enfield in the end and went all over the place found some really amazing little bars, went to a wildlife park, not lots to see but an adventure ,saw the monkeys in the old fort, headed down to the coast and stayed for 2 nights in coco huts, the stories of snakes was a bit frightening but there you go it is goa.

Spent ages trawling through hotel reviews close to the Airports and found none that didn't have lots of mixed reviews, and most were old reviews, so in the end have gone up market to be safe of a "clean" room for a short sleep & freshen up. (Hotel Airport International)
Maybe we will find some now there are more of us d.i.y via Mumbai
