Dont panic Chris . this forum has a very big loyal Turkish fan base and sometimes things get over emotional . We dont want to see Turkey change. Olu hasnt changed much since you were there last year I certainly didnt notice any aggression but comparing to how it was the first time we went that was probably about 6 years ago Yes I think they have lost a lot of their spark and I for one believe there is fast becoming a certain amount of greed and annoyance that we wont pay their inflated shop prices. £50 now for a fake handbag that falls apart is stupid money to pay. We used to be happy to part with 20 quid for one. it didnt matter as it was all part of the fun that went with shopping in turkey , the bartering and the small amount of hassle.but the fun doesnt seem to be there any more so whats the point of spending stupid money on something we can buy at home cheaper if we really wanted it which is a shame .but having said that it is still a beautiful country with on the whole wonderful people and I still enjoy it .I agree with what was said earlier about them thinking we are all wealthy .if only .My nephews wife is Turkish and they spend their whole summer there each year. she says she gets quoted ridiculous prices and when she answers back in turkish everything changes. She then tells them what she is going to pay , hands over the money and walks away. and the large tips us English leave is another thing she disagrees with . they have been used to us handing over what is effectively small change to us but to them was a days wages.probably equivilent to us handing our hairdresser a £100 tip . Can we blaim them for thinking our pockets are lined with gold :
Im still a big Turkey fan though

olu has not changed and your choice of lykia is a good one it has everything you could possibly want i do think you will enjoy it and olu is just a short taxi ride away
I did find the handbag prices etc a complete rip off. Don't they realise that we can get an exceptionally nice real leather handbag for 60 quid in Debenhams, without the stitching all over the place LOL & no really tacky fake chloe bits on it and more to the point without the sales assistant (if you can find one) telling us to off when we don't buy. With our salaries being 4 times higher. making the c*** bag 200 quid in real terms.
I think Karen posted something about a rip of leather purse for 20 quid. They must think we are nuts. when you can get a well made one in M&S for 15. LOL. My hubby is an over tipper I have explained that it upsets the economy with waiters then earning more than Doctors etc etc etc but he doesn't listen.
Still at least the weather will be good. Just as well I didn't go years ago as at least I didn't know it any different.

Chris I hate to hear you sounding depressed over holidays. We need to do something to cheer you up. I truely hope things are improving for you even if just a little.
