Cocopop, When you went with Jet did you have any problems with luggage allowance as it is 28kgs to Mumbai and I dont know how much down to Goa, also did you have to change airports and was that ok, it will be the first time we have gone via Mumbia at the beginning of December
Thanks for any help you can give

Hello,
I am curious to know so many of you fly with Monach, when it seems clear that they do not provide a good service?
Would it not be easier to book flights and accomodation separately?

hmm, i dont go with monarch unless its short haul.

in my experience, they are far inferior to first choice and mytravel to goa.

priced on a long haul, i would rather pay the extra for someone decent. its not just legroom with them, its a round the board service.

thats my opinion, the only way i see it different is that if you want to go but cant afford the extra, monarchs the answer.

I remember flying with Monarch 25 yrs ago (Greece I think) and until I came on this site I thought they were defunct! Surprises me even more that they do long haul now...thats progress, I hope the planes are bigger nowadays?

Has anyone flown with Lufthansa to Goa. We are going business class (as we are taking our toddler first time flying and thought this would be the best way to take him, very expensive but hoping it will be worth it). All comments would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Lorna

Hi Lorna, thats what I am looking at aswell. I've flown with them from Dubai previously and was very impressed. Don't think they fly all the way to Goa though, you'll need to change at Mumbai and fly with someone else I think

English charter airlines are the only ones who fly direct to Goa from the UK and only from the bigger airports (lgw/man/bhx/ema) if you can call the latter two "big"

You mention Lufthansa so if its from Germany you want to depart from try the German charter carriers such as LTU they seem to fly everywhere.

Thomson flights from Manchester stop off at Birmingham on the way there and back. Not sure if they have made people aware.

It's printed on the flights page in the brochure. By definintion, this is still a direct flight, ie you don't need to change aircraft onroute.

I didnt find this out until after we had booked leaving from Manchester, as we live on the south coast we changed to leave from Birmingham but had to pay £120 each for the privilage!

To quote my hero Victor Meldrew, "I don't believe it!"

I read it, put the newspaper down and went for a coffee, came back and read it again. No I wasn't hallucinating - it's there in black and white.

Daily Telegraph Travel Awards 2007 - Best Charter Airline......Monarch!!

Great if you want indifferent staff, inedible food, no TV and seats that only fit size zeros. How on earth did they win that? How? Gordon Bennett.......how? :?:

For anyone going with mytravel, the food is terrible this season. We came
back yesterday. Outward bound it was a joke, we thought it must get
better for the homeward journey, it did not. First meal was two very
small bits of meat, a few carrots and a bit of sweet corn plus a
yorkshire pudding 1" diameter and small muffin, those in premier gold
got the same plus a bun. Second meal, a soggy slice of piza, premier
gold passengers got the same plus a bun. Cabin crew said they were
ashamed to serve it but mytravel are having cutbacks to save money.
Anyone going with them should take sandwiches.

We are flying with Virgin to Mumbai, but then going to Goa from there with Indian Airlines, i cant find any information about travel allowances and just wondering are we still allowed to take liquids under 100 ml on indian airlines? I know thats the allowance with Virgin, but not sure what rules are in india, i want some make up etc for the journey and so dont want to put literally everything i have in my suitcase. has anyone here flown by indian airlines to know what the procedure is on liquids? Thanks :?:

I also cant find anything on the air india site that makes sense about the cabin baggage allowance, im worried if we buy stuff at duty free at heathrow it will get confiscated when we transfer as it will be in our hand luggage, does anyone know or flown with air india from Mumbai to Goa to know, really confused :?

I know when I was in Goa earlier this month I saw notices for passengers that NO liquids would be allowed airside for the return flight.

Bunny230,

I can't comment on regulations for Indian airports, but when transiting through Paris CDG earlier this year, any lose bottles of liquids over 100ml were being confiscated. If you bought bottles in duty free and they were in seeled duty free bags (and un-opened), that was fine.

Mon 6383 due to land today 16-45,manchester,now expected (according to teletex )at
19-00 TOMORROW.
This will be our return flight on 9th Feb ,(fly out next Friday) 8)
Anyone got friends on this flight ?
We were delayed 24 hours outward with Monarch last year, but can't say we have ever been delayed much on our return journey,
They did look after us well in Manchester after some initial confusion, but I don't relish the thought of being trapped in my personal nightmare of Dabolim airport.
Any stories of Dabolim delays ????
