compare that to £9 for 2 of us at Nirvanna for 2 courses and quite a few drinks. I think we will give that one a miss!

Here is a list of where we ate last month.

Bernards, in Baga ( near CSM) - i dont rate this as much as i did previous years, service quite slow, had to wait a long time for the bill.
We went on our first night, and after not having any sleep for more than 30 hours we were really tired.

Jamies Place - Baga road. Id say it was expensive by Goan standards, but very nice.

Hibicus restaurant at our hotel ( riverside guest house) - only ate there for lunch because they had horrible music on in the evenings, very good food. reasonably priced.

But, the best meals and evenings i have had in Goa were in beach shacks.

We used Larios, i had a beef chilli fry, lovely, would have ate it all if it hadnt been so hot.

SilverSands, this is where my OH said he had a nice fish and chips from.

St Anthonys shack, i didnt really rate the food here, but my OH did.

I'll try and remember a few more.

Hi Jimjean

We stayed at the MD in Jan and loved Alfresco it is opposite All Spice (which we were disappointed in). They do lovely home cooked food and it is owned by a brilliant Goan guy Vino, who manages the Apora football team. We even went to a cup final to watch them play in Candolim, give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Agreed Alfresco is very nice.

I couldn't eat all my meal in All spice but I think the Malaria tablets were getting to me that day. Dont get me wrong the food was very nice. I had cheese cubes in Masala sauce. V nice if your not feeling great because its light.

Hi YummyM,
The expensive soup was at Republic of Noodles which is attached to The Lemontree Hotel in Candolim. Nice enough looking place but expensive!!

Hi does anyone know what has happened to the Jazz House opposite the entrance to the Dom Fran.

I was there when they first opened in 2000 and went two years ago, but last years it was closed.

Can anyone shed any light on this please. Has Raj moved on or did they just close up early??

Hi....the Jazz House was closed down last year by the police....Drug dealing was said to be taking place...we were there in the monsoon and everything had been ripped out and thrown across the road awaiting removal !!!
Anyone any more info regarding the subject ???

Best to stick to where Raj has moved to and off the legal side of it.

Where is Himalaya?

You go right to the very top of India - you can't miss it. :rofl

Himalaya is past the Kingfisher Villa, past Aldea Santa Rita and just before the track you take to Bon Appetite on the right hand side heading towards Fort Aquada.

We had a great lunch there a couple of weeks ago - different food but very tasty

The Jazz House is still closed with the furniture still piled up across the road. There is another bar further along the road called the Jazz ***** (can't remember what) and that's open and trading.
I wondered when I saw it whether it had any connection with the original Jazz House.

Ive been reading all the restaurant recommendations again from page 1 .... just to give me an idea of new places to try in March.

I have certain restaurants that I will go to when I visit ie. Souymens Kitchen, After 7, Kim Faa, East Meets West, O'Pescador, I-95 (maybe, jury still out on that one, nice, but so many other places to try).

From all the recommendations I have selected these restaurants and wanted to ask a few questions about them, maybe other HTers will know the answers, thanks :tup

Alfresco - Arpora
Nirvana - Holiday Street
Kebabs & Curries - near Day trippers, is that correct?
Le Jardin - Holiday Street, is it expensive by Goan Standards
Au Reverie - where is it please and ive heard its expensive, that doesnt really bother me as long as it comes recommended
Kalinga - Candolim, whereabouts in Candolim please?
Floyds/Floyds Hut - is this the same place or are there 2? I remember eating at Floyds in Candolim in Nov 2006 and thought it was
very nice but was wondering if there are 2 restaurants, and if so which one is best?
Tonys - Candolim
Himalayan - Near the Taj Fort Aguada? What kind of food and is it definitely worth a visit?
Bhatti Village Bar - Nerul. I can get to Nerul cos ive already been to Posh and Anand Bar, so is it worth a visit also.

Any comments on any of the above restaurants, locations, prices etc is greatly appreciated, its just so ive got an idea where new to try.

Hi Gemma 33 - We travelled out to Bhatti Village bar and it was closed. There was sign saying something like, "Sorry we're closed due to unforseen circumstances. Will advertise when we re-open". It may have reopened by now but it was still closed on 21 Feb and it had been closed for at least a couple of weeks. Shame because I'd heard good reports.

We ate at Floyds (on the left as you go towards Sinquerim from Candolim) and it was just OK. Nothing special and service was slow. There is another smaller Floyds on the opposite side of the road nearer Candolim but haven't tried it.
