It's not a standard or even a common component in most travel policies. I'm not sure about Flyglobespan, but some airlines (easyJet for example) sell scheduled airline failure insurance (SAFI), as do most travel agents.
had a look and their insurance doesnt cover it by looks of policy ,just need to hope that there is no truth in rumours lol
Swiftcover.com has been mentioned recently in our General Holiday Enquiries forum, as a provider of SAFI.

My hubby & I flew with Globespan to Tenerife and I must praise their cabin crew , they were very pleasant and helpful, better than any crew we have ever flew with. The pilots weren't bad either we had a very smooth landing. The flight both ways were about on time and we will have no qualms about using them again. I just wish they flew to a few more places from Durahm Tees Valley airport.
I needed a cheap airline to take me to Orlando last September to start my new job working for the mouse. Flew in a 767 Neos aircraft and do not have a bad word to say about this flight. Very comfy plane, attentive crew and very good service
On the way back in January I decided to use flyglobespan again. Not such a good experience. I was on the plane that had engine problems on takeoff and was then all over the newspapers as the flight that dropped thousands of feet (I am sure its in this topic somewhere)
The cabin crew were brilliant in this situation and calmed me down (I am an awful flyer), flyglobespan put us up in a very nice hotel and gave us food and drinks, they even waivered the fee for in room internet usage so I could stay in touch with my family back home.
Yes things do go wrong but I do not blame flyglobespan and think under the circumstances they handled the situation brilliantly
I heard they had gone bust??? is there any truth in these stories???
David
Greenshoes if Globespan in trouble they are making a good job of hiding it as I have just returned (yesterday) from a weeks trip to Benidorm using Globespan with both flights being on time (well 15 minutes late outbound, but that was due to ground crew) and I would estimate both flights at about 80% capacity which is probably not bad for a mid week, early May flight. These rumours are doing the rounds but I suspect are entirely unfounded and the same rumours are doing the rounds about jet2 and XL airways, I think that they are usually started on forums by disgruntled ex staff or passengers comments which have been exagerated, I certainly would have no qualms about booking again and am using them for my trip to Florida in September.
Hi we are flying from Edinburgh to Palma this summer and wondered if we can take our toddler in his pushchair right up to the gate? Have been able to do this on other airlines but can't find any info on their website. Can anyone help?
That shouldn't be a problem. They take it off you and put it in the hold at the boarding gate.
Darren
Sugar just returned last week from a Globespan flight and yes people were taking there pushchairs right up to the gate with no problems. Enjoy when it comes.
thanks!
I have taken a flight and a package holiday with FLYGLOBESPAN and it was the worst travel experience of my life. There service is very basic and unreliable and if anything goes wrong with your flight or your holiday you are on your own. On both legs of our flight the planes had mechanical problems that they seemed unable to resolve resulting in us being delaying in Plama for 20 hours. Even being stranded for 20 hours there was not even complimentary food or drink vouchers the only thing they offerd was a free drink of water on the plane, unbelieveable.
The customer service is to say the least unhelpful and they have no reps or staff abroad to help you if you have a problem you have to telephone back to scotland at great cost to you.
There are economy Airlines who have can provide a good basic professional serivce, but FLYGLOBESPAN is not one off them.
Scottish airline faces prosecution over flight to America
A BUDGET Scottish airline has been ordered to appear before a court accused of illegally flying passengers to America in a jet that needed repairs.
Flyglobespan will be hit with an unlimited fine if found guilty of the alleged offences, said to relate to a Boeing 757 flight last summer. The criminal prosecution will be the first against a British airline in more than ten years.
It is being brought by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which interviewed Flyglobespan's multimillionaire chief executive Tom Dalrymple under caution .... click here for full story.

Hi we are flying from Durham to Faro and want to take some aerial photos of the Algarve coastline, is there any advantage of left or right seating for the best oportunities?
This is more of a photography question than a Flyglobespan one!! Photography through aircraft windows is difficult. It depends what sort of shots you are looking to take and to a certain extent, the camera. Focal lengths over about 80mm will result in soft / out of focus shots due to the poor optical qualities of the windows. Wider angles are best providing the window is clean, free from scratches and ice build-up. Left or right depends on the time of day you are travelling. Idealy, you want the sun on your back when you take the photos. As you'll be heading south, if you're on a morning flight the right hand side of the aircraft will be best. If it's an afternoon / evening flight, the left hand side will be better. I would also suggest a seat at the front of the aircraft, in front of the engines so you don't get heat distortion from the aircraft exhaust. Photos taken at altitude normally lack contrast so they'll need tweaking and you'll have to hope for a clear day!
Good luck!
Darren
