No wonder the old 747-200's PIA used to use were so heavy at take off if they made those kinds of mistakes!! It was always amazing how much runway the 742's used at MAN. It was all legal and within limits, but rotations were normally within a few hundred meters of the end of the runway. Quite scary to watch!

yep, watched them take off and prayed they never returned to stand numberous of times!!! it is quite scary to watch them take off as it takes such a long time to lift with inches spare on the runway! Lucky me now, i know longer have to deal with this airline at man. :offtop

Any how.........was happy to help reguarding the ticket issue, anymore issues just let me know and i will try and help, im still checkin based at manchester so should be able to find out the info........happy sunny holidays!

If you put valuable electrical goods cameras etc in hold and they are stolen you insurance will not pay out.

Of course, these are standard terms in most travel insurance policies. Valuables should ALWAYS be carried in hand baggage. The only exception to his was when the emergency "no hand baggage" rules were implemented. Some insurance companies then agreed to extend valuables cover to hold baggage for the duration of the restriction (mine did) but now those restrictions are no longer in place it is back to normal.

Somethings never change. I worked in a travel agents 9 years ago and when Airtours first brought out paying for meals. I often heard passengers comments then that they didn`t pay for a meal but got one anyway.

Disaster strikes - only a week to go and corrected tickets arrived in the post!

Now of course a slightly less scrupulous person might just turn up with the old ones and deny any knowledge of the revised version, which appears to be identical in all other ways apart from the luggage limit and in-flight meals...

Oh Er! The trouble is if you 'chance it' and the desk has been alerted to what has happened it could go a bit pear shaped when you are checking in. :yikes

What are you going to do ?

I have just received our tickets from Libra and we are flying with Excel. I am aware that excel are limiting the allowance to 15kg but the tickets are showing "20kg T". I am just wondering now whether the "T" means total of hold and hand luggage.

I now don't know whether to chance the 20kgs in the suitcase or not. :think

modoc,

Stating 20kg T is as clear as mud! What ever happened to the plain english mark of these companies? Acording to Libra's website, it just states 'baggage allowance is 15 or 20kg' so that's no help either. It might be worth giving them a call to check. You wouldn't want to get to the airport and be hit for 5kg of excess baggage at £5 per kg (each way).

Hi Modoc.
I would be interested to know the outcome of this , as i have booked a holiday with Libra
flying with XL to Rhodes in August. Our original booking included inflight meal, 20kgs hold luggage. Then we got messed around abit , dates changed now new paper work states 20kgs of luggage but not inflight meal. Will be interesting to see what tickets say but got a long time to wait for those .
If for some reason they are different again would i have a case to demand what my paper work tells me as that is what i booked and paid for

RANDOM....watch out i`ve been nabbed :rofl
Today we received a second set of tickets with the right info on them....15kg luggage and no flight meals.
Nevermind eh, it was good while it lasted and i`m actually quite glad as it saves me worrying about it.

I phoned Libra and the agent I spoke to said that the 20kg allowance printed on the ticket is for hold luggage ONLY. She confirmed that we should also have an additional 5kg hand luggage allowance. :D

She was aware of the XL allowances being reduced to 15kg etc but she said that they had an agreement in place with XL to allow Libra passengers the full 20kg allowance. I forgot to ask about the inflight meals.

Has anyone tried using a set of the original tickets at check in yet?

Random Number,

I would advise against trying it. Your booking details are held electronically so the check-in agent will know what you are entitled to and that corrective tickets were issued.

People who thought they had 15kg allowance but ticket stated 20kg allowance - did you get through check in okay with the 20kg in lieu of 15kg ?

Hi gps11.

Obviously it's now over a year since this took place, but our cases were over 15KG and we didn't have any check in problems.

Cheers.

Thanks Random number as the exact same has happened to us flight tickets have come and state 20kg + 5kg of Hand luggage but on our the booking info it states we have 15kg + 5kg Hand Lugg.

Wife is saying we better only take 15kg incase we get stopped at the airport but i am thinking what is on the ticket is final and if it is anybodys fault it is the Tour Operator, surely the check in desk could not turnround and say you have only got 15kg when it clearly states in black and white on the tickets 20kg ?

Plus if the check in's go off the ticket info would they beable to tell anyway ?

Baggage Allowance: 20 KGS 5 KG hand luggage"

My Thomas Cook tickets received today also state the above, have asked the travel agent to check them and waiting for their reply. My original quote was 15kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage, Has anyone else had this happen to them and how much hold luggage were they allowed?

Hi Anie,

We booked with Sunshine.co.uk they have sent us the tickets with 20kg + 5kg Hand luggage the flights are with Thomas Cook i sent TC an e-mail stating we had 20kg + 5kg on our tickets would that change at the airport( ie:should be 15kg + 5kg Hand )and they replied with what is on the ticket is final(and that is what it should be as i have no paperwork from Sunshine.co.uk stating 15kg other than it stating this on their website where i booked it)

Random Number also had the same problem(well it turned out not to be a problem)and he got through the check ins no problem with over 15kg. If you have only got 15kg + 5kg and you have went back to your travel agent who you booked with are you not giving them an opportunity to say yes you have only got 15kg we will send out new tickets ?

Basically when i get to the airport an something is said about it(hopefully they wont)i am just going to act dumb stating i was under the impression we had 20kg + 5kg Hand and like i have said before if it is wrong it is the Travel Agents fault and they should stick with what they have sent.
