We have 2 weeks booked in Goa from end September - first visit. On the way we have 2 nights - ie in effect 1 day in Mumbai (get there evening, leave midday for Goa). Want cheap but reasonable hotel. "Bentley's" has been advised to me. Any other suggestions?
What recommendations on must do things for our day in Mumbai?
Am booked into Royal Palms at Bentaulim for the 2 weeks but need an extra night in Goa before flying out. Any suggestions on where to stay for the 1 night - between bentaulim and airport logical. Do I need arrange before trip or check around when I get there?
Looking forward to getting to know Goa. Live in Australia (origin UK) so have visited Bali several times. Are they very similar?

You maybe able to book RP for a extra night, check Royal Goan website. I've done this before, wasn't that expensive.
Another good option is Coconut Creek in Bogmalo which is only 5 minutes from the airport. Pm me if you want their phone number.

Hotels are of a far higher standard in Bali. Food is as good and almost as cheap. There are beach shacks in Goa which Bali doesn't have to any extent. Bali beats Goa for scenery.Beaches are probably better in Goa. People are as friendly in both places and the taxi drivers are the same as in Bali

Les, can't argue with you as not yet been to Goa but from my experience people who dislike Bali have stayed in the Kuta strip, ie Jimbaran Tuban Kuta Legian Seminyak, or at Nusa Dua. I absolutely hate both areas. Get away from the hustle and stay out at Candidasa in the far east or Lovina in the north, Ubud central or even sanur and you get a totally different Bali.
My reading of Goa suggests that the northern part is much busier and highly geared to party time where the south is quieter and more laid back which I chose for that reason.

Go with Bentleys - it is clean - cheap and central - just behind India Gate and the Taj Hotel. When we stayed there we payed 400 rps for the taxi to the airport and took about 40 minutes - only last year so the price will have only moved a little.
We will be in Goa in September so if you want to PM us feel free. We have just spent 3 moths in Australia - for the fith time - so we could meet up for a beer in Goa if you want.
