Ah, i'm so jealous!

Was my first visit to this site last year, and i hope to be back, maybe next summer (Self drive possibly this time!!)

You have been a big help on this forum providing lots of info and giving us first timers lots of tips and beautiful photos.

Can't wait to go and enjoy the glorious coastline, sunshine and plenty of activities for the kids.

Just the caravan for us this year i'm afraid (exactly where i am right now as i type this! )

Our decision to do some work on the house, plus the 'shrinking' of Interbrava's operation kinda stopped us this year, but i'm seriously looking at driving to the Costa Brava for three weeks next year ... now, that would be nice!

Just back from a great 2 weeks at La Siesta. The site is very well laid out and its close proximity to the town and beaches was a big plus. I thought the prices on the site were very reasonable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The entertainment in the evenings was the only let down for me and overall I would say it caters more for families with children under 12.

It is a fantastic campsite, and although i've always really loved places like Castell Montgri that have everything, there really is something to be said for a smaller more cosmopolitan site like La Siesta (Didn't feel like Blackpool in the sun when we were there )

We were there quite late season last year, and the entertainment was little to none, but would have thought this time of year would have been better, especially considering there isn't too many options of going elsewhere for the entertainment

There was very little on in the evenings, the 1st week the stage was hardly used except by kids and then we had the occasional Line Dancing session. There were films on in the Verd area but not ideal with the sub titles and not what you are looking for on a nice sunny warm evening.

Hi CDM....like you caravan this year...bought an old avondale sandmartin in brilliant condition and been getting it kitted out awning ect..going to test it out for first time in august...and if euro stays high next year will use it to see a bit more of the UK...longing to go back to Callela DP, but too pricey now pound weak against the euro

I'd love to go back to CDP, i am thinking of motoring it to Spain next year, and would quite fancy doing a week at CDP, and a week in Estartit. Like you, though, i'll be keeping an eye on the Euro

HI CDM...think probably a lot more than just us 2 thinking the same about the euro...I put money aside every month all year round for hols ...done it for donkeys years...so not used to it in family budget...need to use some to take son to greece for a week (tell you why after weve been) but just us 2 going...was going to get a last minute cheapy to spain for family but euro rates changed my mind...decided instead to buy caravan and kit it out with the spare cash instead.
Could imagine euro having a big effect on bookings in Spain...and more so next year if things stay the same...read some comments about people now opting for turkey ... could be cheap deals to be had when the chickens come home to roost.
Spain gets a lot of revenue from English holiday makers so maybe if revenue drops due to strong euro the exchange rates will improve....living in hope as dont want to stay away too long.

Just returned from Camping La Siesta after a two week holiday. We had a great time, a lovely site in a beautiful area with plently of activities for the kids. My kids were 7 and 4 and I have to say they were an ideal age for this site. The site is very clean, especially areas like pool toilets. The cleaners are in behind you mopping the floor to ensure no one can slip!!

The pool area was great, busy at the weekends with the spanish visiting. If you don't go early on you may not get a bed, but this was not a problem as there is plently of space for towels at pool area. The on site bakery is good and very reasonable, as is the on site supermarket. We did not hire a car and we found the prices to be ok and not overly priced. We ate in the restaurant and from the takeaway and cannot complain, the food was to a good standard and the staff were very nice.

This was our first time on this type of holiday, we booked via Canvas and I have to say their caravans are perfectly located, we were lucky to be next to the Hoopi's tent which was great for the kids. I loved watching the kids have freedom to play and meet with new friends. I cannot stress enough how relaxing and enjoying this holiday was. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to return next year!!! Again with Canvas Holidays, and they are adding new upgraded caravans to the site next year which will be a bonus. The couriers on site were Dave and Jen, they were ok, always checking you were fine with no problems. Prefered Jen to Dave; was put off Dave from day one when he never assisted us with our suitcases on arrival to the site!!

Also loved the location of the site, walking to the village of Calella de Palafrugell and also to Llafranc. The kids managed the walk to Llafranc ok, there is a beautiful coast walk - we then got the train back which drops you off at the site. Kids loved that too!

Couple of questions:

Which mobile did you get with Canvas - ours is the Festival Midi with Air Con and decking - did you have air con and did it work! Were the beds comfy or piddly thin mattresses?

The train from Llafranc - is it the one that does a circuit around Calella and Llafranc ... do they pass the campsite as a matter of course or do you have to ask them to drop you off? Does it run all day or just evenings?

Was Hoopis busy - did you have to book in advance?

I dont mind answering any questions as i had plenty of my own!
We were in the Jubilee 29 midi which was slightly bigger than the festival midi. We had air con and decking also and we had absolutely no problems. The caravan next to us had problems with their air con, but i have to say Canvas were very good at attending to problems. They had a maintenance man based on the site, in this instance he could make the repair however they got an external engineer in to correct the problem. They acted very quickly which was a good sign.

We made lots of friends at the site, all families with children of similar ages which was great. A few of them stayed in the festival midi, the caravan was to a good standard clean and bright inside. Only downside they commented on was the toilet and shower being seperate. We had some dutch friends who were rather tall and found the shower rather awkward to use. However, we were situated close to the shower blocks and they used these showers as they were immaculate and cleaned all the time. There was a cleaner going in to clean as you came out... I used them a few times also, they had a small bath which i used for my son!

I have to say the beds were comfortable and we had no complaints of this mattresses or lumpy beds!

The train we got was the 'road' one that done the circuit. It stops at the bottom of La Siesta as a matter of course. It cost us 12 euros for 2 adults and 2 children from Llafranc to La Siesta. It does go further if required and it runs from morning til afternoon, and then from teatime to nighttime. The last train from Llafranc to La Siesta in the afternoon is 1345, if you miss this one you have to wait until 1630, which is handy to know if you are planning the beach!

The hoopi's club was busy and there was a booking system in place. We didn't have any problems after the first few days when we got used to the system. Maria is the courier running the club, very nice girl and new to the site. The club was on twice a day 10-12 and 4-6 except on a Saturday which was Maria's day off. The sheets sit on the table outside the Hoopi's tent and you mark down your childs name. The sheets are released for two days at a time, my tip would be to go to the tent around 945 every second day when the sheets are released to get your name down. We were lucky to be opposite the tent, so we were on hand to catch Maria as she would arrive.

The area our caravan was in was good, we were behind the pool. It was all canvas caravans and a mix between Jubilee 29 Midi and Festival Midi, all had decking and air con. The location was great for the kids and they had room to play and make friends. The Hoopi's tent also keep footballs, bats etc for the kids to play with. You are able to access the tent anytime if you need anything. We also left buckets and spades, blow up lilos etc in the tent so check before you buy anything. Another tip, you are not allowed any balls, big rings etc at the pool, they are quite strict, but to be fair it makes sense as when the pool is busy they would be more of a hazard. We had already bought some and couldn't use them but took them to the beach instead!

Hi All,
Am going to Camping La Siesta this Saturday after having to reschedule a cancelled break. Have been here before with Canvas holidays but am going with canvas-life this time ( had to take a late deal as original holiday cancelled due to a death in the family).
Apparently canvas-life is now owned by canvas holidays but was previously camping-life; Canvas holidays do not have much info on the accomodation at site ( we have booked 2 bed cottage mobile) although it will be of a certain basic standard they cannot advise where on the site the vans are located, if we have a/c or decking etc.............
Does anyone know the answers to these questions who is familiar with the site???
Any help appriciated

Does anybody know where the Canvas/Camping Life caravans are at Camping la Siesta in Palafrugal?

When we went.......think it was 4 years ago, they were just past the supermarket on the lane from the main entrance. Handy for everything

We were at Camping La Siesta this summer with Canvas Holidays and our caravan was situated right across from the Hoopi Tent. This was ideal as we had young children. The location was fab just next to the pool and great for the kids to run around without any danger of cars etc. Canvas Life are a seperate company to Canvas, they have their own reps, kids club etc. The canvas life caravans seemed to be dotted about, some behind the stage area/outdoor bar, some towards the supermarket and some down to the back entrance, handy for heading into the village or the beach.

I have to say everything on site is fairly central so you are never far away. Most caravans seemed to have space around them without being too cramped. From the canvas life caravans I saw they did not seem to have decking but table and chairs on the ground area outside the caravan. They looked smaller than the Canvas one we were staying in, but I am not sure of standard.

All in all a great family site, a great pool area and bakery and the kids loved it.

We've be going with French Life, who became Camping Life, who are now Canvas Life, for years. Mainly in France. Went with Camping Life to Pals a few years ago, and had a great time (only the drive from Calais put me off, wife won't drive on the continent). Apparently Canvas Life aren't using Pals next year, so we're off to La Siesta. Hope we enjoy it as much as everybody here does.
