I agree with JessieT, there's loads to do for all ages at the Holiday Village, something for everyone!!! No boredom necessary!!!

Not sure about the footie pitch either :que , didn't see one there, but I know the soccer school was on because someone told me her son went and it knackered him in the heat. I can imagine that it would because I was knackered walking to the shop at the front :tongue

I noticed some boys played football every night outside the ent area in the evenings, which would be much cooler!!

No pics of rooms in the fishing village unfortunately but I heard from many people that they are lovely, spotlessly clean and they all seem very well appointed, some have nice pool views. They look amazing when you first see them!!!! No one said anything bad about them. I wished I had one when I first got there but couldn't upgrade as it was full. :cry ....although my apartment was great too, to be honest!! We were more than happy!!

Hi Gizzy

You can get ice cream in little pots from the pool bars throughout the day, plus help yourself at mealtimes in the buffet!!!

Serious question here that I can't beleive nobody has already asked.

What is the beer on the AI? And what's it like? Can you drink it all night or is it that stuff you get sick of after three pints?

The local beer is Keo and we drank it with no problems. It's actually quite nice (but I am not really a lager drinker), my husband drank it all evening most nights and he always complains if a lager is too gassy but no complains here!! Other hols he's had problems :que but he was fine at the Aliathon.

I preferred the wine, it's very nice, nicer than any other AI I've been to. The white is pretty dry which was good because I don't like medium or sweet wine. My dad was drinking the red and said it was lovely as well. Actually, Cypriot wine is lovely which was a really pleasant surprise. We really had no probs with the drinks at the Aliathon, yes, it's a bit of a pain about the 2 drinks per person but I can see why they do it. Sometimes there are huge parties of people (for weddings etc) and they would likely try to get drinks for everyone at the same time which would hold up the whole queue, 2 drinks per person seems fairer in that respect.

I did think that they should have more parasols, seemed to be plenty of beds!! Often they weren't taken coz they were in the sun. Didn't notice any parasols for sale in the supermarket out the front. However you can buy one and take it with you (I've heard of people doing that before) I have seen one for £6 which isn't bad really, infact it's going down to £3 in their sale later this week.

Hi Everyone,

Just read on a forum regarding Pahos that it is soo humid there that there are huge spiders (my pet hate) could someone please tell me if this is true I feel sick.............................

I didn't see any of these huge spiders, I did hear about them though. Someone told me that they are called banana leaf spiders and they live in the banana plantations which are about 20 mins from Paphos. They don't usually come into Paphos itself. They look scary but are harmless really. I didn't see any at all when I was there and neither did anyone I was with. Saw a few lizards though, quite big ones down by the beach. I wouldn't worry about it Scooby, prob someone's just spotted one or two in the whole of Paphos, I didn't even see a little spider the whole time I was there.

Thanks ever so much Hankpotter, i felt physically sick when I read it. We have tried all the greek islands for holidays except for Kos as when we visited Rhodes a couple of years ago a lady told us she went to Kos and there was a huge spider on her pillow!. Its put me off going!!

What is the high humidity like I didnt realise it was so much different from the other resorts in Cyprus and the daily temperatures always seem to be lower than the other resorts.

It is humid out there, for some reason I was expecting more of a dry heat like the Greek Islands but on the evenings it's humid. Feels pretty close if you know what I mean!! During the day it's just red hot!!!

Oh, a little tip actually, regarding the air con particularly in the older part of the complex. We noticed ours wasn't as cold as we thought it should be when we first arrived and informed the reception and it was fixed within a couple of hours. It was a simple matter of the gas needing topped up. I'm just making the point because it would've been easy just to think that that was how it was supposed to be.....not particularly cold, and not mentioning it to the reception but it was lovely and cool after that......it's meant to be pretty cool!!!! I guess most people leave it on when they go out and it runs down over the 2 weeks, you can get extra key cards for the electric at reception so it can be left on. We used an old Nectar card at first.....worked just the same.

Another tip is to take your luggage to your room yourself when you first get there if you're in the older part, we waited ages for the porter until we just went and got it ourselves from out the front. It's not far to walk really.

Can anyone tell me if the rooms have irons in them or do you have to loan them at reception?

You can get an iron and ironing board ordered at reception and they will deliver it to your room, cost 2 or 3 euro per day I think.
