Hard to say, but you're certainly right in the hurricane season.

Cancun got hit quite hard by Wilma in 2006, but escaped Dean last year.
They had this year's first hurricane in the region last month, but it didn't threaten Cancun or the Riviera Maya.

hi wendy and damien you would not be foolish considering mexico the end of august we went in the hurricane season sept 06 and we are going back the 30th of august this year its just a chance you take when we were there we had rain 3 times they were 3 quick heavy showers that lasted 10 mins and the weather is really warm at that time of year dont let the thought of a possible hurricane put you off going to such a lovely place you will really enjoy it TANIA X X X
