Ive been to both, the sea at Cypsela has very strong currents, and when the waves roll in they threw me over, also found the site too regimented. Our children always prefered La Siesta in Cal de palafrugel great site, nice walk to the beach and Lafranc also close by is beautiful.

What an excellent site, wish i'd found this a few years ago.
I'm going to La Siesta with siesta, last week of august with my 17 year old daughter, 13 year old son, 13 year old nephew, 9 year old son and my sister in law, i stayed at CM in 2006 travelling with siesta, and again in 2007 with club c, i have a few questions to ask,
Do they have any sort of evening entertainment? my sons are hoping that they will have the kids disco [ as they do at CM], and if they do, do they play the same songs, both boys learned how to do some of the dances and would like to get up and dance to them.
Is there a crazy golf course near the campsite?
Is the takeaway food better than at CM?
What is the weather likely to be for the last week of August?
And for anyone going this year are the sunbeds still free?.........knowing my luck they will have a charge on them this year.
thanks Penny.

Hi,

We went to CDP last July. Our first holiday with Canvas in a caravan abroad and we loved it. The site is great for young kids, safe, plenty of room to play about and make good friends, the pool is guarded all day - no inflatables! and very, very clean.

The bakery on site was very good, and the shop had good choice too. The shop was very reasonable for an on site shop and the staff are all very friendly. Take away was ok, we only used it a few times. The restaurant was good also.

We had mostly good weather, a few days were overcast and cloudy and one night of rain. The site is close to the village of CDP and we enjoyed walking down to the restaurants and ice cream parlours! The beach is lovely and safe, we also walked to Llafranc which was nice, we went to the beach there a few days and had lunch. Great bakery and takeaway in square at Llafrance. My kids were 7 and 3, walking there was good then we good the 'road train' back. This was great value, the kids loved it and it dropped you right at the back entrance of the site.

There were so many positive things about CDP, we were booked to go back this summer but had to cancel due to flight prices. My only negative comment would be nightly entertainment. We were not looking for much, maybe just a kids disco about 8pm and a show for a few hours to keep kids and us entertained, but sadly nightly events were hit and miss. We like to have the kids entertained early, then off to bed and I enjoyed reading my book on the decking, so if I could improve anything I would have more early evening entertainment especially for the children.

I am sure you will love this site, it is really spotless, we made lots of friends as the children had freedom to play around and feel safe. Some friends preferred to use the shower blocks for getting washed and changed, as the showers were much bigger and they also had a small bath for little ones. The canvas reps were very good also, they visited every day to make sure all was well.

I hope this helps, anything else please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards,
Kaz T :cheers

Just a fantastic location, probably the best and most scenic location in Spain that i have been to, and La Siesta is a great campsite. I'm gutted that Interbrava stopped going there as i would love to go back (always wanted to drive to costa brava one year, and really thinking about doing it next year so i can go to CDP again :) )

Lovely site, nice staff, good supermarket and bakery, and the only fault i could agree on is that the late night entertainment wasn't really up to much.

I don't touch restaurants abroad being a veggie, but if you are looking for the Chinese buffet place, head for the southern entrance to the park (the one that takes you down to the beach) and once you come to the main road, it's directly across from you (in a blue building if i remember!!)

Take some time to enjoy the coastal walks, they are second to none :)

Thanks for all your answers, Cider monster, i have looked at your stunning pictures and i've told the kids that were doing the costal walks, the boys took it well, my daughter did'nt look too impressed, till i pointed out that it was a good way to lose weight and get a tan, although i'm now a bit apprehensive over the evenings as they are all used to CM's evening entertainment, i take it that the bar is open in the evening?
slightly off topic in estartit we used to go to one of the restarants near the harbour, resonably priced, nice food, although i'm not a veggie i hardly eat any meat, but i used to order patas bravas [sp]sorry can't remember the name of the restaurant.
a slightly bizzare question now, i have an allergy to the grass around CM, only managed Lidl's once due to itchy swelly feet, is it the same grass around cdp?

I'm no horticultural expert, but i'm guessing it's pretty much the same. Much smaller site though, at La Siesta, so not the vast open grassy areas like you have at the Panoramic pool at CM. Maybe that will benefit you, but take some allergy tabs just in case!

Glad you've roped in some people for the walks, if you need any advice you know where i am. The views from the lighthouse on the northern walk are fantastic :)

Thanks cider, you never answered my question on is the bar open each evening?
I usually have piriton with me :tup

Yeah, the bar is always open. Bear in mind we were there in September so it was getting quieter, so it may be better in high season, but it still won't be the same as CM

For some strange reason i seem to have allergies that kick in and out at certain times ... streaming itchy eyes, etc. I tend to just buy ASDA (or tesco) own brand allergy tabs, 7 in a pack for less than a quid and they always seem to work!!

No overly cautious mother, don't want to have to call out a doctor.
Is there a doctor at cdp?
Reply
A typical mother then? I'm 35 and my mum still worries about me!! :rofl

There is a medical centre and doc on site, not sure if it accepts the euro medical card (new E1-11) though??? The one at CM doesn't i know that!!

Best to check that one with your rep, they should know

hi simikins.....not just a coastal walk but a nature trail....loads of little skink(thats what my lad tells me they are called) lizards, and other little lizards sunning themselves on the stone alls and butterflies and dragon flies...preying mantisis can be found on the campsite as well as crickets...my lot used to find them at night in the bushes where the bikes are by reception....ps good market on in parrafrugel its self...especially for fruit veg and fish ect but cant remember which day
Reply
the boys googled skink and are most impressed, are children allowed to wear rubber rings in the pool, i notice that someone put no inflatables in the pool, but i wondered if rubber rings are allowed [he can't swim without one].
Reply
sure my lads had stuff in the pool...but was first week in oct...may enforce the rules hi season...my lad says tell your lad about the mole crickets he found on the little fairground site on the way to town
