hi, we completed one of these earlier this year, surprisingly we didnt win the first prize of an all expenses holiday but we won a different holiday where we had to go and listen to the hard sell in birmingham and pay the admin fee. the starnge thing was that the draw was made b4 the closing date on the entrance form, when we questioned the company on this all went silent! we declined their invitation to visit their hard sell and then for the following week we recieved call after call from them, this got to the point where they became quite rude even questioning us why we didnt want a "free" holiday. Also my parents recently returnd from faro and was asked to enter the competition but when they found out that they was over 60 years old they were told they couldnt enter it, as they were too old at 62!!!

We left Faro last Friday and were approached again with the questionaire. I asked the man straight out 'is this time share' He said no, it was just to check where people were travelling for the airline. Didn't believe him

That's a good one - so the airlines don't know where their passengers are travelling to...

It's always timeshare.

... Of course they know !!! - they just don't know where their passengers' luggage is going to end up !! :rofl

Truly hope you enjoy the holiday, mandii, but please keep practising saying 'No thanks,we're not interested; credit card?-what's that?' - it's a phrase I'm afraid you're going to need more than once !! Good luck !! :tup

I've joined this thread because the same thing is happening at Palma airport, Majorca.

We were on a Thomson flight. The interviewer said it was a survey about Majorca, but we got the phone call about a holiday prize a few weeks later.
Declined the invitation of course.

it has been very interesting reading this thread.
If they are not a security risk, then why do we have to queue up for ages and half strip off and hand in our water bottles etc?

mandii if you have the time to spare to go on this trip, we are all agog to know what happens.
but please leave your credit card at home :rofl

I agree also joining this thread from Majorca link. We were approached at Palma on a Thomson holiday in September, all English women, they have a captive audience when queuing to get on a plane we won, yippee. Two hours at a seminar in Birmingham and 29.00 something for flight we declined as had been caught before. It's disgraceful that this is allowed.

Well to conclude this topic, we were offered a holiday of a weekend in Cornwall - we declined this and stopped our cheque - it was a bit different to the week in Tenerife that we asked for - anyway just so everybody is clear it is a timeshare scam so dont be fooled next time you are approached in the airport.

It's times like this that being a Welsh speaker has it's advantages. When ever I get mithered by people selling stuff abroad I always speak back to them in Welsh and that usually curbs their pestering enthusiasm.

It has worked for me all over the world from Eastern europe to the Senagalese ju-ju men that used to pester people on beaches (do they still do that, not seen any for years)

I suppose my luck will run out one day and the person selling will be an ex-pat from Ynys Mon!
