A question about Flyglobespan - we flew EDI/AGP , paid for two pieces of luggage each way - although we had a small bag as well -Edinburgh turned a blind eye to this but Malaga directed us to the excess baggage desk . I think that was probably correct but why the inconsitency ??? We bought extra luggage allowance on the way out only , £15 for an extra 10k although we did'nt need it .

Different interpretation of the airlines policy and discretion I would imagine. There's also the dedicated Flyglobespan thread.

Hi, quick question..... flying out with First Choice (economy) in March, it says on our itinerary we have 23kgs it doesn't mention anything about hand luggage... would anyone know if the 23kgs include hand luggage??
You're presumably a Star Class Premium customer? Your luggage allowance is 23kg hold (checked in) plus 5kg hand luggage, it's not included in the 23kg hold allowance. Refer to the dedicated First choice thread for more details.
Darren
Thanks Darren - we are Star Class, but we aren't Premier.... well we didn't pay for it
If you are Star Class (posh term for economy), your allowance is 20kg hold plus 5kg hand luggage unless you are staying at a premier hotel and you have the extra as part of the deal.
Darren
Aha Darren that might be it the hotel is classed as "premier" so maybe that is why.
Lucky but I have the internal Qantas flight from Sydney to Perth so don't know what will happen there.

After thinking that my luggage allowance was going to be 20kg total I have just checked Monarch's website and it states 20kg for hold baggage and 10kg for hand baggage!
As per your post on the Monarch thread; if you are on a scheduled flight (ZB flight prefix) and have paid for hold luggage, you have up to 20kg allowance. You get 10kg hand luggage allowance as standard. You can't combine your hold and hand luggage though, ie you can't take 25kg hold and 5kg hand.
Darren
I think I've got it wrong then as I'm on MON2490. Confused as my ticket says 20kg (but doesn't explain if total or what) and the email I received says 20kg TOTAL.... I need to go and rethink my packing
You are on a Monarch charter in that case. Your limits are 20kg including 5kg hand baggage.

We are flying to New York next week, is it ok to take Cheese, bacon and T Bags in the hold luggage!
I'm pretty sure you can't take bacon, the only cheese you can take is what is described as fully cured hard cheese, you will be allright with the tea though.
thanks!
Air Tours/Thomsons 15kg Max allowed
extra allowance of 5kg cost £15
Flybe baggage costs £7 oneway...£15 return
It's common for low cost carriers to charge extra for hold luggage and have been doing that for quite a while now. A lot of travelers don't take hold luggage so it's an optional extra for those that do and therefore at extra cost.
Air Tours/Thomsons 15kg Max allowed
That would be Thomas Cook rather than Thomson(fly). They still offer a 20kg standard allowance unless you are on a super saver type fare or late deal (package holidays). Thomas Cook brought the 15kg allowance in for the winter 2006 season and used to charge £5 for the extra 5kg. That price seems a distant memory now its £15 short and £35 per person long haul!

I am on a chartered flight to dalaman flight no BD8903.
I have read the website looking at luggage allowance am I allowed 20kg hold and 5kg hand luggage?
Also, can I book seats? Whicj ones would be best for long legs!!! My bf is tall!
xx
Refer to your post and GowerL7's reply on the Bmi thread regarding luggage allowances. You are correct, your allowance in 20kg hold and 5kg hand. This'll be confirmed on your tickets. Seating is personal preference. As it's a chartered flight, you can't pre-allocate seating. This is allocated at check-in. Seat pitch is 30" so romier than your standard charter flight (as I posted on the What Aircraft? thread when you posted). Extra legroom seats are available for a charge, you'll need to enquire at check-in about these or with your tour operator who's chartered the aircraft. Apart from those, all the seats are standard.
