the Radisson is probably the best airport hotel and certainly the most convenient when using T2

Thanks for that Andy, I think I shall book the Radisson as the other hotel I was looking at was the Crowne Plaza but doing some research not very good reviews.

Hi

Have stayed at the radisson a few times ------------- fantastic.

Have a look at Tripadvisor for the reviews --

If you want a real treat book a Business Class Room on floor 9 (I think it is) It includes breakfast and if you ask for a run-way view it is spectacular. They'll look after your car from when you leave it at the front carpark until when you pick it up

Magic --- have a great stay

Hi
Flying to Barbados 17th Feb to join ocean village flight code TCX 29K, but the only flights that I can find leaving Manchester on a tuesday is First Choice. Does anybody have an explanation for this ?

tinkerbell,

You can't find it because it is a cruise charter. Don't worry :)

The security refurb was finished last year, everything else is still ongoing.

How is T1 coming along? We'll be there in 10 weeks and last time we were there (Easter '08) airside was lovely but landside was like a building site. We always used to go for a meal in Garfunkels (landside), is it opened again yet?

cyberspacekadette,

T1 was still a building site air-side when I went through before christmas. Things are coming along, but they have a master plan for airport development that will see building work all around the airport until 2020. I don't think Garfunkels (land-side) is open as yet, I would assume it will be for the start of the summer season.

Ah well, April isn't really the summer season is it? Our flight is at 13:55, was hoping for an early lunch after check-in around 11:30, but I guess we'll just head straight through security and make do with Starbucks.
Is there an IRIS registration point in T1? It was closed for lunch, or they'd nipped to the loo (for an hour) when we were in T2 last year...

cyberspacekadette,

IRIS is in operation at Manchester but I've never seen anyone use it or it actually in operation! Everytime I go through, it's never working / closed.

I've seen people going through the IRIS point at arrivals/passport control - we queued for 45 minutes coming back from Tenerife last Easter, along with flights from Egypt and other places which had arrived the same time as ours. A small handful of people had registered with IRIS and we watched them strolling through the automated checkpoint quickly and easily :-x We agreed that we would definitely register next time (Aug 08), but there was nobody in the office when we got there. It is a really good idea but MAN needs to sort it out properly! :no

Having not used Manchester Terminal 2 for a while, where is the best place to purchase sandwiches,is there a good sandwich bar airside??,I know they wont be cheap but I need somethig for a snack on an 11hour flight.
Reply
qatarman,

With all the redevelopment work going on airside at the moment, there isn't much airside really. Boot's is about the best place for sandwiches. It might be worth making some yourself and taking your own!
