If you havent been to Icmeler before you will love it and be back as there is something about the place that brings people back year after year.
Hope everyone is well?
I havent been on here for a while and my old account has been diactivated! but for all old timers on here i used to be Louise - So hello to anyone who remenbers me.
Have stayed away from Turkey for a little while and for those who do remenber me will know why - but i dont think i can keep away much longer and my brother will be working out along the marmaris coast so i think later in the season will be a good time for a visit.
Is anyone going to be in Icmeler around the beginning of october?
I am looking at hotels at the mo - somewhere i havent stayed before (normally stay at the Dilhan) Any info on the vilamar would be appreciated??? Had a look on the reviews and its doesnt look to bad!
Is Mr Toohey still patrolling these boards?? is so hi and long time no see.
Thanks in advance
Louise xx
Louise I have checked you account and I can't see any deactivation. I can reset the password on the Louise account if you wish?
I'm still here Louise though a lot of the time I am here just to read and not to post as much for obvious reasons.
You can see it on you tube by searching for Turkish Eurovision Entry 2009 (Unable to post a link)
It's a lot better than the British entry which in my opinion is a bit boring
Dave
Yes, it's great isn't it - very catching. I haven't even heard the British entry but no doubt it will get very few points whatever it's like
Kedi, the British version is far too serious and somewhat depressing. The Turkish entry is much more fun
Has anyone out there tried para gliding in Ovacik/Hisaronu. Whilst we were there we were astounded to see people jumping off the top of the highest mountain in the area "Babadag" and attempting to land on the beach at Olu Deniz. My husband and daughter want to try it out this year and I wondered how safe it is
A few years back I was on a Thomson holiday in Olu Deniz and the reps stated categorically that they did not encourage this, sell trips to it and their Insurance would not cover it if things (god forbid) went pear shapped.
One landed in the pool of our hotel instead of on the beach which is the kind of designated landing strip, graetr fun watching the people jump and land, makes the sky very colourful.
I am sure you could get Insurance cover with other companies, probably it's classed as dangerous sports, so the type you need for skiing, scuba diving etc.
http://www.skysports-turkey.com Their price also includes insurance . As an extra precaution I also checked our own travel insurance (insureandgo)and added the 2 of them on for paragliding at only a couple of pounds each .
insureand go are pretty good for included activities and have a fairly extensive list included in their cover . (they have a list availabe here http://www.insureandgo.com/travel-insurance/adventure-travel-insurance.htm Pretty much anything else can be added for a small charge

2 members of my family have done it . I was aware they wanted to do it before we went and did a lot of research on the more reputable companies offering it in Olu Deniz . Settled on sky sports who I believe are the most expensive but they had excellent reviews . insureand go are pretty good for included activities and have a fairly extensive list included in their cover . (they have a list availabe here http://www.insureandgo.com/travel-insurance/adventure-travel-insurance.htm Pretty much anything else can be added for a small charge

I did the paragliding onto Olu Deniz beach back in 1999. As mentioned above, the jeep ride up the mountain was the scary part! It was absolutely fantastic, not to be missed. Last summer, we were in Olu Deniz again. Our 4 "kids", aged 20, 18,18 and 15 all did it and loved it. We were also covered on our Insureandgo insurance. It's a great policy.
I have travelled far and wide over the years and had always dreamed of having a Place in the Sun. We travelled to Ovacik in Turkey last year and completely fell in love with the place. So much so we took the plunge and bought an apartment.
Everyone we met were telling us horror stories of the pitfalls in buying but I have to say our developer was absolutely brilliant and handled everything for us.
Subsequently we returned a further three times and are planning to retire there ultimately
That sounds wonderful Olwen, I would love to buy a property in Turkey too some day, somewhere in the Bodrum Peninsular would be my dream. I'll get there one day
hi everyone am booked for club alize end of august cant wait
We're going back to Club Aida - anyone else going there? Going the 4th July - looking forward to it so much especially as weather is really bad here at the mo.
we are off to olu deniz last week in august, we are staying at hotel alize.
any one else stay there at same time...xx
hi my family stayed there last year said it was nice bit quiet
Yes we are going to Bitez this year...
Yes we hope to get to Bitez in September, but for a change we are first going to Cyprus in May!! Not sure how 'Sir' will get on as last time he was there people were shooting at him (and that was AFTER he left the army!! )
Haven't decide on where to stay yet - we are trying A/I in Cyprus and it depends how 'Sir' gets on with that as to what we do in Bitez. Can't wait to get back - there are huge posters for Turkey all over the place and I can feel the urge to mutter in Turkish even in Asda!
