I don't really know any hotels in Bodrum itself. I know loads in Gumbet though.

It takes about 35 minutes from the airport by car and is about 10 minutes from Bodrum itself.

Hi woodyrocks, No is the answer. No more than 25mins by taxi, but if you are on the "package" transport you will get a tour of Bodrum and visit all the Hotels befor you get to Gumbet but it will still only take about one and a half hours. Cheers

Anything less than 30mins is do-able in my view. Kedi, Dougal and others in the know, could you please offer up recommendations of places to stay. I am not looking for 5*luxury just want clean, comfortable, nr beach and good food & drink!

I would stay in Gumbet rather than Bodrum. Very big and good beach and plenty of good eating places. Kedi will advise you on places to stay. Cheers

Hi Woodyrocks what is your age bracket and have you any children?

Dougal, I am under 35 and my daughter will be 8 on arrival. Gumbet sounds cool and I have heard it mentioned it a few times on the forum. Will try and be patient and wait for Kebi to return! :tup

My recommendations for Gumbet would be Siesta Beach, Tropicana Beach or Jasmine Beach apartments, all right on the beach or Ozukara 2, which is nearer the centre and has lovely, clean, new apartments. I think apartments are better than a hotel when you have children as you have a fridge and can cook simple meals.

There are loads of places to eat and drink around and everywhere caters for children.

I just noticed on your other post that you want to pay up to £300 for two weeks, all the apartments I mentioned are within those price ranges.

They said you were the man in the know and they were right. Thanks! Will get to checking those leads out.

Gumbet for you. One of the good things about it is even if you are not in a beach hotel and in a hotel in the town centre is only 10 to 15mins walk to the beach. Try one of the (7 beach) boat trips, they are good. Don't book from the travel reps. Look around as they all give you different prices for the same trip. If you do this, one piece of advice, book a boat that goes out of Gumbet and not Bodrum. You have to find your own way back from Bodrum!! The Dalyan trip is also good value. Both trips give you lunch and the drinks are OK for price on board. Cheers

I need help !!!
:duh

I have found reasonably priced flights for late October to Bodrum......can anyone advise re: best hotel out of the below (will be 2 adults and 2 kids under 10 - dont go to kids clubs, but like good pools, beaches etc)
- L'Ambiance Bodrum
- Aegean Dream
- Kadikale Resort
Or am I missing a really good hotel elsewhere.....stayed in Yasmin Bodrum a few years ago (found it really nice but they are not taking normal bookings for the time I want to go - some diet conference !!!)

We want AI - sea views etc.....you know the kind of stuff - everything for a reasonable price !!

Lastly - weather (have been October before so know unpredictable) - is the Bodrum coast more windy and cooler than the Olu area?

Any advice would be most welcome as I am going web site blind
Thanks
