When I took my son abroad as a baby,he's 15 now I took formula, carried freshly boiled water in his bottles which are safe all day and added pre-measured dry formula whenever he needed it,no need for cool bag or refrigerator,I did this until he was 2,it made travelling with a baby so easy. Hope this helps.

Hi Starry,

I have two daughters aged 10 and 2 and have been taking them to Benidorm since they were babies.

As far as nappies go I would just take enough with you to last for the seven days so I guess your looking at no more than 50. We went for 16 days last year so I took around a hundred nappies. Just laid them out in the case out of the packet. They don't weigh that much and as you will use most of them there you won't have to worry about the weight when coming back.

Of course you can buy them there but they would be a fair bit more expensive than over here same goes for food and milk. You can get it over there but it will work out cheaper to take it yourself.

Thanks for your replies, i have managed to get 10kg luggage allowance from Thomas cook for toddler so i'm going to take most things from here for him.

Thomas cook don't readily offer the information about the 10kg for infants - i spoke to the airline direct, gave my flight details and she allocated the extra allowance for me free of charge (it does have to be a seperate suitcase)

Thats excellent about the extra for an infant. I flew with them when my son was 9 month. I phoned the airport the day before as I wanted to take a travel cot. The person I spoke to told me to bring it as he would be checking us in that morning. That would explain why I was able to.

I took all nappies and a few jars of food. Formula mike as well.

Have agreat time

starryeyes1996 what did you say to them to get that, normally you get nothing, we've booked with Thomson and I wouldn't mind that for my youngest daughter.

I did a bit of research online and found that from May 2009 Thomson and Monarch are going to be offering 10kg allowance for infants free of charge as standard so used that as my barganing tool with Thomas cook. I just phoned the airline direct, told them i was travelling with a toddler and that i'd seen some airlines offering the 10kg allowance free of charge. The operator took my flight numbers and added the allowance.

I'm pretty sure if you rung thomson now they'd allocate the allowance to you.

ETA - the 10kg free of charge is only for under 2's

Thanks for the advice re 10 kg allowance for infants. I'm going to contact Monarch now to make sure we get it for our son.
We struggled last year with no allowance for him.

starryeyes1996 thank you very much for that, I will get this sorted today. :tup
Over 2yrs get the full luggage allowance anyway, this extra 10kg is very good, only downside is that with the way the euro is people won't be bringing any extra things back.

Not that it is really a downside.

The Thomson shop I booked it with are trying to say it is only for holidays booked after 1st May, bollocks, I told them to contact their head office and get back to me as I won't accept being fobbed off. :banghead:

All sorted, she phoned HO and they said it would have been allocated on our tickets anyway, why don't I believe them. :think
