Definitely NOT normal. It is a Spanish legal requirement.

If you can find a telephone number for ThomsonFly, I suggest you call them without delay as you are (hoping!) to fly within the next 7 days.

many thanks for making me descend into a total panic aguilamike!!! (only joking!)

just spoke to Thomson and they have confirmed that they do NOT require the API at time of booking, it is only taken at check in at the airport!!

PHEW!!!!

I use Jet2 on a regular basis, and have never been asked to put my passport no. on when booking. Like Thomson, they do it at the airport, linda.

Sorry for the fright :rofl

See:- http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/aviation/international/advancepassinfo?page=1

The above came into force last year. As I understood it, the information had to have been received by the Spainsh authorities before the flight left the UK. ThomsonFly are cutting it a bit fine if they are only gathering the information at check-in.

To reach the 'API for Spain' topic in our Airlines & Airports forum, please click here.

That forum also contains Q&As topics for most of the popular airlines.

I will close this one now to reduce duplication.
