Woken up now so get it!!! Just been discussing Turkey with grandson's mate - he went once but isn't keen. Trying to convince him that now he is older he will enjoy it more.
Del - thanks for the e:mail (I want to be a pig!!! ). What dates are you going in September or have you not decided yet? Won't book until we get back from Cyprus (yes, I know, you talked me into going somewhere else as well!!) but I would think the first two weeks would be favourite. Give my love to Ev. and take care of yourselves.
Hi All,
We Are going to Marmaris in June and staying at the Club Candan, has anyone been there? If anyone has could you please let me know what it is like...This is also our first time to Turkey, so we don't know what to expect at all...Quite nervous at the moment as I have read lots of reviews etc, and it has been said on quite alot of them that waiters etc.. pick up your children and walk around with them.... especially if they have blond hair well my daughter has really fair hair and I will not be happy if this happens.....Is it true and if so how do you deal with the situation? Thank-you...Just a bit worried at the min....
You will find that Turkish people are very, very friendly and they do love children. You will often find that people will want to cuddle your children and babies, it doesn't matter what their hair colour is. They are only being kind but if you don't want anyone to pick your child up just ask them not to, no-one will be offended. I lived in Turkey when my oldest daughter was a baby and everyone would pick her up and cuddle her, she was quite happy and I knew she was safe so I never worried about it. As I say just tell them if you don't want them picking her up.
Thank-you very much for the reply,
I was a little concerned as I didn't want to offend anyone, also my daughter is very much a mummy and daddy's girl and i know she wouldn't like strangers picking her up...she is 4 years old...thank-you once again for your reply....Simone...
The incidence of children being picked up by waiters etc in Turkey has been discussed frequently on here.
There really is nothing "unpleasant" in this, don't worry, don't panic................ but don't be careless either.
Waiters will often pick up small children and carry them about the restaurant to give YOU the chance to enjoy your meal without having to break off and feed the little one etc.
sfitzgerald27 - no problem with the kids and the interaction with the waiters etc. We are about to embark on our fifth annual trip in succession with our now 8 year lad. If I thought it was an issue for a moment, we would not be returning.
The problem stems from the media in this country that would have you beleive that there is a paedophile hiding behind every lampost.
you dont need to worry what colour your hair is as kedi says they are only being friendly ,
you wil have a great time in marmaris ive been going for the last 10 years,
its great and they are so friendly,
tony,
