Hiya,
Going to Orlando on Friday. Have booked a Sat Nav with the Hire Car but wondered do we have to type Zip Codes into the Sat Nav or are most places already entered???

I can only speak for the TomTom, as that's what I own and I've never used any other GPS nav devices, but no, you do not need to know the zip code of your destination. In fact, I don't even think my TomTom asks for the zip code anyway. It also has a lot of locations (restaurants, gas stations, hotels, theme parks etc) already pre-programmed. It's saved me a couple of times when my car has been running on fumes and I've needed to find a gas station!
Thank you thats great! Was thinking I would have to start looking for Zip Codes! lol
Hi, ours came with the car hire package and all was pre prog'd
Yes so was ours. We just put in chemist or Hooters etc and it took us there.
We've just got back this week - I updated my Navman to include all of Florida (it cost £69) and took it over with us..
It was a god send!
We used it every day for the parks, restaurants , petrol , parking etc
So much easier.
All the points of interest are there - you =just tpe in the name i.e 'Universal' and away you go..
Good luck
Nik
It cost 69GBP to update the maps? I've never updated my TomTom before but that seems expensive. 69GBP is about $100... and Amazon are selling the TomTom 125 for $109 right now... which of course would have the entire US on it (probably has Canada too since mine does).
I've already got UK + all Europe on my Navman so I've now got Florida + Europe for when I'm driving round spain, France etc..
Also my Navmans not a basic one so I wanted to keep it.
They was charging £60-£70 just for 'hiring' a satnav over in US for 2 weeks!!
