Hi there
We have just returned from Thomson hol flying into Cancun from Manchester and we had booked seats together but some people who had not were split up. The stewards were very good and asked a few people if they would mind changing seats to get the families together but there would be no guarantee

Just a little whinge here if I may.

Called Thomson to get seating together (flying Star Class Premier) and not only did I have to hold for 20 minutes before I got to speak to anybody but a machine, I was then advised that it would cost £ 10.00 per seat to have seating together.

Considering that we spend £ 6000 on this holiday, £ 3000 last November and more than likely £ 3000 later this year, I am rather disgusted with that.

Who would be the best person to speak to, to make my displeasure known?

Mark :)

Just looked on Thomson web site seats togeather from £6.00 per flight = £12.00
Seat number request is £10.00 Total is £22.00 per person I would try again.

Just tried booking holiday for 2 May to Mexico Seats togeather FOC.

And quote web site.

I just vented my frustration here on a public forum. Rather have that First Choice/Thomson/TUI would take note though.

mum2two,

That's very unprofessional of the sales department if they are coming across as pushy and trying to suggest if you don't pre-book you'll get split up. In reality, what happens is seating is pre-assigned the day before the flight using a best fit model. The majority of passengers will be seated together. Because of the nature of aircraft seating, it's inevitable that some will be seated across an isle, one behind the other and in rare cases, in different parts of the aircraft. There's nothing set in concrete that states children have to be sat adjacent to parents, but it's a CAA guideline that families are seated together. I wouldn't worry too much.

MarkJ HT Mod,

Myself and Snowyboy have just been discusing the same thing over pm's. It used to be part of the premium package but no longer. When you think what you've already spent upgrading, they have a cheek to ask for an extra £10 to choose your seats. Another reason I don't bother upgrading!

Hi, we're flying to Sharm El Sheikh from LGW in July on tom632/633. Have looked on ANA Aviation and think we will be on a 763 (yeh, like I know what that is!!). Would be grateful if you could confirm this dazbo5 and also do you know what seat configuration its likely to be? Thanks :cheers

BHX-CUN-BHX (TOM568/9) are operated by an ex-First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details and my trip reports. The aircraft operated via Manchester outbound (fuel stop).

I would have thought you'd know that if you used to fly for Thomson? They never operated the A320, only a Boeing fleet. It'll be an inherited FCA bird.
