Hi Danny, thanks for the pm. Nice to see you back on the forum again. You mentioned you're off again in October, is that back to the Flamingo Oasis?

We're back home now and thanks for your remarks Danny, we class you as one of our family now. We did enjoy meeting Shirley and Helen and their husbands, we had a good get-together. We had a great holiday at the Flamingo Oasis but found the quality of the food had gone down. Trouble is there was too much selection before and seeing the price of food in the supermarkets I know why there wasn't so much choice. As Danny said the gammon and beef were excellent and we had a lot of fresh salmon.

There weren't many people on the rooftop but the workmen were drilling one day and it was very noisy. The bottom pool was packed during the last two weeks and there wasn't much spare space. Most of the staff were very friendly and remember you from previous years so were very chatty but there was one grumpy one behind the bar who was most rude at times.

By the way Glynis Danny and I both wore our Holiday Truths wristbands but didn't see anyone else wearing one only Helen and Shirley so they were easily recognisable.

Is a key for your room door or a card?

Its a card with your photo on, you can use it to open you door and also for I.D at the bar.

Hi Dave Make sure you don't lose your card as you must pay £20 for a replacement A lot of people had them on a ribbon round their neck which I should have done as I lost mine, Danny will tell you how but I'm sure when the Fiesta bar have a spring clean they'll find it.

When I told my other half about the card being for everything she said I bet they'll charge you for a replacement.

Where do you get the ribbons from?

Best to take some with you - make sure it co ordinates with your gear though :rofl

Hi Dave the hotel shop sells them in all different colours me and my brother have a couple of cards with them still on from previous stays. They are really handy to have and like Jean said there were loads of people with them around there neck. Yes Jean did loose her card and it was a total mystery where it went one second it was there and then in was gone. I was with her at the bar and they never found it. i think its cheeky they charge so much for a replacment.

The staff are probably told to have any away if they see any around so that the hotel can gain extra money.

Don't be daft mate, it's about security and reprogramming the locks.
I bet you'd be chuffed to little mint balls to have someone else be able to get into the hotel and your room.
The 20 euro charge is a kind of deterent to let you appreciate how important keeping your card safe is.....a bit like being charged if you lose the key to your room safe.

What is, the £20?

My other half works in a 4* hotel here and guests are not charged any extra if they lose their card, all the cards are is little pieces of plastic with a chip on that the computer programs, you program the new card and then the old lost card will no longer work.

People should automatically appreciate the importance of keeping their card safe without the thought of a financial penalty.

BUT - Thinking about it, they do have the carry on of putting your picture on it again so it does involve more work than just giving you a standard reprogrammed card, so i suppose a charge is fair for the extra work involved.

Moggy.
Looking at it another way, if you lose your passport it costs you dearly to replace it.
Your card at the FO is your passport to the hotel and it is different than just swiping another card into a machine to produce another lock access.

True Moggy, but the thought of forking out €20 might make them appreciate its importance even more.
Go buy some ribbon and keep it tied or pinned to your trousers/shorts, so that it won't slip out of your pocket, and if it does it won't fall on the floor....... blue ribbon to match HT .

Yep, I'll be going into the shop for the ribbons for everyones cards, I've just told my 8yr old daughter that if she loses her card she'll be sleeping outside as I'm not paying £20 to get her a new one. :rofl
