I've bought the mosquito milk mentioned earlier so will let you all know if it worked when we return from Cyprus in July. I have never been bitten in Cyprus but my mam and dad got a few last year so have bought it for them but I might pinch a bit if the unexpected happens!! Getting excited now 2 weeks tomorrow until we go :sun2

Just back from Icmeler - used the Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray religiously and didn't get any bites this time round, apart from two on my right hand which I must have got either at the airport or just after arriving, before I'd even thought to use the SSS. Won't be venturing anywhere without it again, I must admit!

We're off to Cala Bona in Majorca in September. Am I likely to get eaten alive? If so, I'll order the Avon SSS while it's only £1.75.

The mozzies just love me. :(

can you order on line....no one near me seems to be doing avon.....tweetie

You can order online but have to pay delivery charges - if you or anyone you know works then ask around to find a rep.

Maybe you don't want to spend that much, but If you don't have an Avon Lady,
there's also a free delivery codes if you spend over £20, which are KWG or LS

Both should work. :)

Would love to here your comments, as we've never been before, and would hate to be put off by the little blighters!!!! :yikes :yikes

Thanks

I am so happy....weve just come back from a week in playa taurito....gran caneria....we went armed with bands sprays and plug ins.....but we brought them all back unused.....THERE WAS NO MOZZIES....not a single one did we see or feel....this is the first holiday weve been on without any one being bitten...usually one of us gets badly chewed on......so guess where we will be going next year....tweetie

well mosquito milk is the way forward

I got bitten by the little blighters last month in Torremolinos, despite using SSS and essential oils.
I've bought a bottle of mosquito milk from Chemist Direct....with postage it cost £9.70.
Expensive maybe, but I would pay double that amount if it keeps me bite free because I react badly to them.
Once opened it lasts for 18 months, so I should get a couple of holidays out of it, and I quite like the idea of it being a roller ball application, so there is no waste just applying a few "stripes" on the exposed skin.

Time will tell if it's worth the money (in September), but I also like the idea that it's made up of natural plant oils, with only 20% Deet.

Thanks Janeyjaz for the tip off for this product. :tup

Hi everyone

Just had a read through the thread and it seems there a lot of repellents etc to keep the moquitos away.

The mosquitos dont like the taste of me so I rarely get bitten but my wife always gets bit and ends up with big blisters.

We have been told to try yeast tablets or garlic tablets, can these tablets be taken together or is that just overkill?

hi fossman....they are both natural food stuff really....no problems taking as much garlic as you like...and taking brewers yeast with it wont matter....just keep to the reccomended daily dose on the brewers yeast bottle...why not eat plenty of homemade pasta and chicken ect cooked with loads of fresh garlic before you go on hols...thats what I used to do.

I never used to get bitten ...then one year got eaten and after that always got bitten...it was only recently I put 2 and 2 together and now think I know why....I was ill ...had a bleeding ulcer....which put my blood count low for a while....then had treatment ....part of tratment was large doses of acid suppressents...then a maintainance dose ....was on them for a few years.....I was getting tired all the time as well....decided to look up side effect of the tablets I was taking.....found out they stopped you absorbing B12.....this is something mozzies dont like....thats what they tell you to take to put them off.

Anyways decided to have chat about wether I really needed to take acid suppressives anymore...and I dont ....feeling heaps better....and wondering if mozzies will leave me alone after I boost up my B12

I've bought some Brewers Yeast £4.99 for 500 tablets (they'll last me and my wife a few holidays), think I'll try the garlic tablets next time I go away.

It says 2 tablets, 3 times a day (seems abit excessive).
