Get onto your local Citizens Advice or Welfare Rights re benefits if you having no joy through jobcentre plus, although you should be able to get appropriate forms there, go sooner rather than later though and they will process his claim.

Good Luck, I know the sickness is not much but every little helps.

i went to job seekers plus and was given a phone number to make my claim on the telephone

Yeah, I think the phone call is your first point of contact and when your claim starts from... 'I think', however, if you are having problems go to CAB and / or Welfare Rights to ensure appropriate benefits are being claimed.

Good Luck! :cheers

hes decided he cant cope with going to the benefits office and claiming, as he said we will only get about £70 if we are lucky lol, so will just use his savings :duh

lets hope all these tests hes had done come back ok and scan date comes through quickly

Ellie tell him to claim as it will take a good 6 to 7 weeks to come through, it will be backdated so at least hew will get some savings back .

he hates the thought of sitting in there for hours feeling unwell to get a few quid, ive tried to tell him hes entitled to it, hes rang his accountant this morning too and then decided not to bother, you cant tell him anything :que

i was something if only my next flight money :sun2

I am not too sure if it's means tested though as a benefit, I would have no idea really but just crossed my mind.

Whatever you decide, I hope your hubby well now and on the mend.

Out of curiosity what have the Dr's here said about his medical level of treatment? Is all well and as it should be?

Get Well soon

I think you will find that sickness benifit for self employed is indeed means tested or it was about ten years ago when i last tried to claim .I have been s/e for about thirty years now and learned a long time ago to take out an insurance policy in case i was ever off sick .

the drs said they want to do more tests as they not happy with him, he had to do a stool and urine sample yesterday which will take a few days to come back with results, the dr gave him a general examination and asked if he had lost weight which he has all his clothes are hanging off hes gone from a large / x large in tops to medium and even they look a bit big grr, waist from 34 to about 30 too :que , ive never seen him look so thin being a builder he was always quite broad across his chest , hes still got stomach ache and still going to the toilet more than normal. hes awaiting a scan appointment too, wouldnt surprise me if results dont come back with some form of severe food poisioning :yikes

about 9 years ago, he was involved in a car crash where an american pulled out of a junction looking the wrong way grr and he was off work for 4 mths with head, neck & back injuries and then my older 2 were living with us and we got no help with our mortgage only £70 a week what a joke , so now theres only 3 of us he thinks its not worth the hassle and stress involved and hopes to go back to work on monday

Hi, Just to set your mind at rest. I was in this hospital in 2007 after a bad accident. I had to have an operation and I cannot speak more highly of the hospital, its staff and cleanliness of the hospital. I would definately say that I received better treatment and care in that hospital than I probab ly would have here at home. My surgeon was fantastic and made a great job of my face. The hospital was spotless. Two women would come into my rom every day and scrub it from top to bottom. The language barrier wasn't really a problem. I would highly recomend this hospital if you are unfotunate enough to have to go there on holiday as I was. :tup

Hi Ellie-Meg
Just wondered how your husband is doing now? Hope he's feeling better.

hes still got on going problems with his stomach, some things he eats are going straight through him, hes going for a scan on fri, urine came back normal and the stool sample got lost somewhere in transit grrr so he needs to do another :duh , hes still got pains on the right hand side just below his waist area, so things do need to be investigated more, but uk drs take longer than turkish for appointments etc grrr .

filled out insurance forms to post tomorrow going to send special delivery as they have all original receipts , fingers crossed the pay up most of it, dont think they will pay up for his taxi to hospital as he didnt think to get receipt he felt so unwell :think , that was 50 lira , but ive claimed anyway

Hi Ellie-Meg

How is your husband's health now? Have they got to the bottom of the problem yet?
And how are you - you sounded pretty stressed at times and no wonder!

hes slowly getting better and all tests have come back normal, scan showed up some inflamation around his bowels , that dr has diagnosed irritable bowels left from the problems he had in turkey, hes on medication for a few weeks to see if that helps, hes lost another 1.5 stone grr and he had deliberately lost 2 stone in the 6 mths before we went to turkey, so none of his clothes fit lol, and still seems to be losing weight grr, think its cos he hasnt got his appetite back and not eating as much , hes still got pain every day, so im wondering when its going to end :duh , ive told him if hes still in pain next week he must go back to the drs.

i was stressed about it, knowing hes self employed and had no wages for nearly 6 weeks grr and he wouldnt sign on , also because he was feeling ill he was taking it out on me and being moody etc, which i can sort of understand, but hes not been easy to live with lol

we had also booked and paid for a holiday in turkey in oct for 2 weeks, which now hes not happy about going due to another 2 weeks loss of wages , but as its lykia world for 1 week and olu deniz resort all inc the second week, we wont need much spending money, but we are both worried incase he gets ill again :yikes

insurance paid up quickly although they wouldnt pay for the taxi to the hospital 20 miles and some of my mobile phone calls due to his illness, but at least thats 1 less thing to think about

thanks for asking how hes getting on
