Papa, just to let you know that we had a text from Rovin today and Sendra's will be opening again this season :D
Rovin has signed the lease to the restaurant for this season and he is getting everything set up just now. He will be opened in approximately 2 weeks time :tup

our favourites are Thai Oriental, Kim Fa, Jamies Place and Sendras.
Does anyone have any recommendations for Colva? Gonna spend a few days down south this time
:cheers

Can't fault the Bistro for a change from spicy food (chocolate brownies are a must !). Also keep an eye on the specials board - some decent stuff there.
Mermaid round the corner is okay also, but 2nd to the Bistro.

MCB - Walking from the Sunset up to the main road you will see chocolatti, another nice place for a snack with a difference, open mid-morning to early evening, got to give it a go.
Across the road from here and to your right about 200 yards down is a place called Cecilias, thought this was the best place we went in last season.

Thanks Gemma,

Really looking forward to some of his lovely tandoori chicken and to die for naan bread.Only got a week for our first trip but it looks like Sendras is our first port of call.

Can I make a small suggestion re food place descriptions.
The Bistro - Candolim .......... but where - perhaps something like near to Dona Alcina or some other well known landmark - the big saxaphone - etc.
I don't know where Bistro is but would like to go. I know the taxi lads know where most of these places are but the tut tut drivers don't seem to.

The Bistro can be found down the Whispering Palms beach road - if you are coming by taxi/tuc-tuc then simply ask for The Whispering Palms Hotel. The Bistro is built on to the side of the Sunset Hotel, if you ask for the Sunset Hotel, most taxi drivers don't have a clue - Whispering Palms, no problem.
If you are on foot and know Candolim - coming from Calangute head towards Candolim crossroads, don't turn left at the crossroads, go straight across. Cross over to the right hand side of the road and walk past Bom Successo restaurant, then you walk past Ruffles, a parade of shops and ATM machine, and you should come to the Whispering Palms beach road (The Horizon is on the corner), turn right and walk down this road 200 yards, as you walk down passing a few shops, there is a small lane that leads to Mai Tai restaurant, but keep walking down and you will pass the Mermaid on your right, a bit further is a mini store and a jewellers and then the Sunset Hotel, you can't miss the path that goes between these to the Bistro. - hope that makes sense, sounds like a bit of a hike, but it ain't !
Last year was quiet most nights we passed, this year - who knows.. it was always reccomended to book a table.
Not up to date but gives you some idea http://www.johnthemap.co.uk/pages/goa/candolim.html

Did you deceide to stay at La Ben ?

Here are some places I liked in Colva -
Sagar Kinara - Indian --- Mickey's - All sorts ---- Sea Pearl - Fish
All are near La Ben in the center
Magik Italy Pizza Near the church
None are stylish places, just good value IMO

Some Colva regulars recommended Caji's Place on the road that runs parallel to the beach near the Oceanic hotel, it's quite a walk from the center.

I used to like the famous Martins Corner, in Betalbatim a short drive away but last visit the service was poor, it was Christmas time and very busy. Might give it another chance this November. The Majorda beach road also a short drive away, has a good choice of restaurants.

Also like the Shacks on stilts on Colva beach. Papillion shack, and Anthy's beach side place on the way to Benaulim.

xx lassi

The Bistro is not far from the "River Princess"....a right turn down a side road if you were heading for "The Taj". :)

1st Floyds, Candolim - Very consistent year after year.
2nd Delhi Darbar, Panaji - As good as ever, consistent and good atmosphere.
3rd Cecillias, Fort Aguada Road Candolim - An oldie but new to us last season and very good.
4th The Curry House, Fort Aguada Road - Great currys, big portions, steaks were 'off' last year though.

Never enough time to get round them all in 2 weeks, but I would always return to the consistent ones, so either Floyds or Delhi Darbar.

We enjoy Sheetals at the end of the beach road in Candolim opposite Silver Sands.

Always consistently good quality and reasonable prices.

A new discovery for us at the cheap end, because that's where we spend most of our time, is Anand Sagar.

It was new last year and is purely vegetarian (but don't let that put you off) and the food is excellent and as cheap as chips. A belt busting dinner last week was £3 for the two of us! Try the paneer chilly dosa. Lovely.

It's opposite the Tangerine Hotel, quite near the Nizmar, just further towards Calangute past the white church in the middle of the road.
