Discussions regarding holidays in Goa.
Last March our 6 week holiday cost us £1000 for the 2 bedroom apartment(£500 each)and £354 each for the return flights via Mumbai with Kingfisher, total, £854, that is a great price for 6 weeks in Goa :tup :tup

It's just that every post I read of yours has the word Thailand in it....

Yes because I have just come back and would like to share some information to anyone who is considering a change.

I'm only making suggestions since there seem to be a lot of people who want a change. No one seems to provide much info' on the Thai forum....... maybe as Spaldy said to me.... 'it's because they are too busy having a good time'.

It would seem that this group is dissapearing up it's own a**, if you don't post anything that's pro Goa you get flamed. There's a lot of people who don't like the 'truth' judging by the amount of people who don't care for Spaldy's posts also.

The 2 month Visa rule may have advantages that Goa might become quieter or there might end up being more Russians, anyhow we shall soon find out.

My sentiments as well, well said Big Neil. Thank heavens for a balanced view.

Cheer up Neil..... You're not getting "flamed" by me I was just jesting.

I agree that these discussions are serious and several matters on here do effect a lot of people's lives... I wasn't meaning to be disrespectful... just having a little joke, lightening the mood...

Neil your wasting your breath, most are to worried it may cost another 20 rupees for a beer,or maybe they would miss getting their change as chocolate eclairs!
My Goan/Indian friends were "ladies of the night" Roxey...but i will still miss them, nice girls.

Lol no wonder you are enjoying Thailand then Spaldy :rofl.

On a more serious note, are you seeing Thailand through 'holidaymaker' eyes or as a potential new home Spaldy, as you well know its two quite different things. You say you have only been there for a few weeks so perhaps you are still in the 'honeymoon' period
I have a few close friends who live or have lived in Thailand, believe me the 'farangs' are looked on as second class citizens there too. I know more than one British person who has lost a shed load of money on property and business deals that although looked 100% on paper once the money was handed over went totally pearshaped.

utter rubbish Big Neil.. :que . i think most people on here are realistic about Goa...the good and the bad... but at least they attempt to say something positive once in a while... seems to me anyone who defends it legitimately or disagrees with you gets 'flamed' ...
balanced
????? 'balanced' means just that...both sides .... also including positives NOT just negatives ... everyone has an opinion of their own... yours re Goa is generally very negative or worse BN :duh

I'm having a brilliant time Roxey!!!!!! :rofl :rofl
I normally spend about 4 months of the year in Thailand,if i was to be honest i'm not sure i would want to be here 12 months a year...saying that i wouldn't want to be anywhere 12 months a year i don't think.
I won't be losing any money in Thailand on 51%/49% deals!!!
On my last few visits i've travelled down to Cambodia and i think there will probably be more chance of me spending more time there. It's similar to Goa in a way, hard to explain..but it's cleaner, the beaches are nicer,it's about the same price as Goa,visa's are no problem at all you can get a 1 year multi-entry visa....probably the main difference is they are welcoming tourists, they want/need the money!
I will probably be going again at the end of this month to have another look and make my mind up.

It would be interesting to know the validity of a recently issued tourist VISA. Is it 6 months, or as has been reported in some cases, a 3 month VISA.
Reply
Probably depends on who picks up your visa application. The one I saw in Mumbai this week was issued 2 weeks ago and they asked and paid for 6months and were given 3 months.
Maybe they said they were going on a 3 week holiday so IHC decided 3 months was enough.

Mine arrived back this morning which was a big surprise as I didn't think next day special delivery included Saturday without an extra charge.
So I can now relax and wait for the time to pass till wheels up. We were issued the full 6 month multiple entry tourist visa for which we applied, it was 11 days from posting to receipt.

Lozza07 I would be expecting yours to be back with you probably Tuesday as you were 1 working day behind us, fingers crossed anyway :tup

Well chuffed Rog :)

Thanks all for advice especially from 'scorpion' re getting new visa with a very tight window due to new visa reg's ( came back 10th Dec & flying 21st Feb...therefore couldn't apply til 11th Feb)
hi Shazzatrace,
I personally would use an agent, i dont know how far you are from Birmingham but add on petrol, parking and queueing up for hours and taking time off work the extra charge would be well worth it.
I dont know how you would get an appointment as they NEVER answer the :swear phone anyway, so the other alternative is to queue from about 6 am to make sure that they see you on the same day. :gluck scorpion.

i used an agent....made the application online Monday 8th Feb, took the paperwork to agent in Leicester near to work on Tuesday 9th they checked through and for a fee of £10 per visa took the visa apps to Birmingham on Thursday 11th feb. Received phone call 14.30hrs Friday 12th Feb to collect passports. Fab!! i will never do it any other way.
oh as as for the questions about the length of visa issued............. against advice we applied for a 1yr multiple visa and that's what we were given...even the agent was surprised we got it. :yikes

so off to Goa next week :sun2
