Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your query,
Please note that there should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to India on a Tourist Visa only. This ruling applies to short term Tourist visas i.e. 6 Months and 1 year (irrespective of whether the existing visa is of double or multiple entries) and does not apply to the long term entry visa for 5 yrs or any other visa category.
Also, if the applicant has a existing tourist visa which is about to expire, then the applicant can only apply for a new tourist visa after a gap of 1 month from the date his last tourist visa expired. Before that a new request will not be accepted at any India Visa Application Centre's.
THIS IS FROM THE UK.
GoanMadTony: That is what alot of long termers used to do,now most are moving to Thailand ect permanently.
As the tourist visa for next season will be cut to 3 months, this will have an adverse affect on tourism here meaning a lot of people that normaly come twice a year will now only come once.
John
As the tourist visa for next season will be cut to 3 months,
John, there is nothing to say anywhere that this is the case, no official statement has been made saying only 3 mth visas will be given next season ..this is just supposition at present
Paxrax, I think you definitely have a problem here as that is correct re one mth between visas, maybe you could try going up and appealing with your flight tickets etc provided you have been out of India for 2 mths maybe they will give you a new one?? I soo hope so. what a worry for you.

Oh dear this isnt good. Do you know this for certain John? I wish the Indian Consulate would confirm this one way or the other. As you say most people will only visit once and what about the people who like to spend 4-6 months in Goa in the British winter time? Will affect them badly as well. Its shocking.
where have you got the information regarding 1 month between visas..
Ive checked all the sites i know and cannot find this in writing anywhere....
Our visas ran out on Wednesday and i was going to send for new ones on Saturday....just emailed VFS to see if they can throw any light on this...

It's not shocking until it happens........ if it happens.
I have yet to see anyone on this forum announce that they have only been issued a 3 month VISA. It's all heresay and rumour at the moment as far as I can see.
noggin: The 1 month gap inbetween visa's came from info.inuk@vfshelpline.com.
just had a email back from VFS and it states that you need to let 1 months between visas (not that i doubted you )...
Will have to wait 4 weeks before i apply
Cheers spaldy....
DaveWales: Believe me people have already been issued 3 month visa's.
Spaldy this has not been quoted anywhere yet as definitive or otherwise and i know quite a few people who have still obtained 6 mth visas in the last few weeks...its purely speculation at present about thm only issuing 3 mth visas and misleading to tell people otherwise.... even though its a possibility... that is all it is... and there is no reason to suppose it will happen as yet...lets stick to the facts!!
Oh dear this isnt good. Do you know this for certain John?
Gemma NO.... nobody knows this for certain, it hasnt even been officially anounced as a possibility...its purely speculation/gossip as yet and people are at present still getting 6 mth visas (I am not saying that there havent been any 3 mth visas issued but even 3 yrs ago my son got a 3 mth visa ... they have always been available, i think they just looked at his 3 week holiday dates and issued it we never knew why... but it didnt matter as that was ok for his holiday dates

Here's the facts: Some people are getting 6 month visa's, some people are getting 3 month visa's.
How can it be speculation/gossip when some people are getting 3 month visa's? To tell everyone they will be getting a 6 month visa i would put down as misleading.

Correct... just like its always been

Spaldy, Nobody is telling everyone they will be getting 6 mth visas but its just a fact that there is currently no law or otherwise to say they wont get a 6 mth visa...certainly absolutely no law saying they WILL ONLY be getting 3 mth visas

How about we start a new thread or use this one for people to say yes I got a 3 months visa,I only heard of one person who heard it from someone else come on does anybody actually know anyone this applied to,is it sporadic is it going to be the norm or just another rumour, infact I heard next year you wont be allowed in unless you wear a Turbin slan (cheers)Irishman.
ahh its good therapy to laugh Irish Man and that made me smile
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your query,
Please note that you can apply for a tourist visa. Irrespective of the duration of validity of visa, on each visit maximum period of stay in India is limited to 6 months (180 days).

We also know of at least seven people who have just got there 6 month visas,so no change there either:tup
Thanks split for the info,I feel sorry for the people who have already booked holidays this year without the required 2 month gap they where not to know India would change the rules mid stream but whether next year we get 3 or 6 months visa it will just take a bit more effort to work out suitable dates,we have booked already for november and then for feb 2011 so closer to the time me and the O/H (boss woman) will get the abacus out slan(cheers)Irishman
the gentleman said that was correct.
i then asked about the 1 month between visas and was told that the rule was no longer being enforced.
going to send my applications in this weekend and see what happens.
i have also mailed vfs and will see what the reply is!
heres hoping!
chilly
will do, i dont think we actually have any more available dates if we had to change flights etc, unless we went for just 7 days which i dont fancy at all.
