Baga and Calengute within walking distance from each other but why bother when taxis are so cheap! Candolim about 5/10 mins by taxi from calengute.
Candolim is lovely with lots of nice restaurants and bars and not forgetting the HT meets on Wed nights in the Carvery.
Enjoy

I have walked from Candolim beach to Calangute and on to Baga beach in about a hour. Its a really nice walk and nice to stop in different shacks for refreshments on the way.
If you are too tired to walk back just pick up the bus back to Candolim from Baga or Calangute.

We stayed in Arpora a few years back and I would definitely advise taxi's, particularly in the dark.

It takes hardly any time to travel around all places in North and most drivers are a lot of fun.

There can be a lot of wild dogs that at times can seem a bit threatening to some people.

Try O'Pescardor in Baga/Calangute way for an exceptional curry and east meets west for an amazing sea food platter in Baga, if they still exist!

Have fun!

I think the beach is about 8k long or 5 miles seems longer if you walk it but in the day time you can jump on a bus to get back for a few rupee but in the evenings you have to have to use a taxi, tuk tuk or motor bike rider

Calangute is closer to Baga (2k) than Candolim (4.5k) and after Candolim there is Sinquirim

Candolim in the season is not in the middle of nowhere, it is in the middle full stop, plenty of hustle and bustle also plenty of good eating places and is one of the places you might find Tom warbling his heart out at Jambalaya on Sundays and there are the meets on Wednesday evenings where you could meet up with the Dragon or a Chilly

Most people on here prefer Candolim so you have made a good choice. Great eateries in Candolim in fact I think I prefer the restaurants there to Calangute or Baga and a lovely atmosphere too. As has been said it's not too far to walk along the beach from one resort to the next, done it a few times myself but you will definitely need to stop off at beach shacks for refreshments en route to prevent dehydration and what better way to meet up with locals and HTers alike. Don't think you will find Candolim too quiet but if you want something more lively there are clubs in Baga.....depends what you are looking for I guess. You will certainly find a lot of lively HT people at the Wednesday meets, never a dull moment and lots of fun...........great for picking up loads of information on local trips or trips further afield, what you should expect to pay for jewellery, handbags etc.............you name it, someone knows the answer. Have a great holiday :cheers

OMG i am still doing my homework and i am in a DILEMA.

I have around 10 days left next year, been to Cyprus this year 2 weeks, got egypt booked for November 2 weeks, but next jan/feb whichever month we choose have around 10 days.

We are still going to GOA next November 2011 but still wanted to go somewhere warm next year. Is goa not a good choice for a first time for 10 nights due to the fact of it being long-haul with thomson? We did toy with the idea of going back to Sharm but its the same price, although Sharm is only 5.20 mins or so.

I was looking at the Nizmar resort in goa and it appears to have good reviews.

Thank you
