Nearly all tourist visa issued to uk passport holders are for 6 months. There has been the odd occassion when only 3 months have been given, but that's a rarity.
hi Dave, did you get 6 month visas?
Yes, 6 month multiple entry as requested.

The idea that tourists were going to be given a 3 month VISA was a scaremongering excercise by one or two on this forum IMO.
Are we having to ask for last years applications to be taken off the system again before we can apply for this years?

Mine had gone from last year, one of the reasons I decided to apply early was to make sure the system was clear.
From what Nejulie suggests in a previous reply to this thread if you start an application now it will be removed within a few weeks if payment hasn't been received, maybe this is when the VISA has been sent out , maybe the system just gets cleared. I had been suggesting that those who don't want to apply until November to get two trips, could at least prepare the forms in readiness.
cheers Dave
Thanks Dave. That's one less hurdle!
I want to schedule an appointment at Victoria for the week commencing 6 September. Do you know how far in advance I can apply in order to get this date? Thanks.

Not a clue I'm afraid. I would just go online and try now !
Good luck Dave
Dave - Thanks for your reply. Will give it a go when we get into August.
hai..have you heard the new way of getting indian visa through email. Does anybody know it. Please inform me if you know.
Sounds interesting e-mail visa's, wonder what problems that will cause us.
One day they might do away with passports and just scan you or do an instant DNA check or similar !
Happy days ahead then xx

As DaveWales says, they need to physically have your passport so the visa can be stuck into it.
Are you maybe talking about on-line applications?
You can apply on-line but you still have to print off the application and send it with your passport to the application centre at Hayes.
could any of you nice folks assure me when to apply for our visas - usually go for 3 weeks and have got the 6 month visa in the past. Going on 9th december for 8 weeks until 5th february this time and worried in case we only get a 3 month visa as a few people did last season. So just in case of us getting a 3 month visa when should we apply please? I know the chances of this are slim and will probably get the 6 month one but can't seem to get this nagging problem out of my head
No !
Apply for your VISA in good time, I would allow a month, more if you don't intend going back again , and stop worrying !!!!
thankyou Davewales for reassuring me, will apply in october for the visas
We fly out on 2nd Feb 2011. When should we apply for our visas?
We cannot go to the embassy, so need to do it by mail. How do we do that?
Can we apply direct, or do we need to use a company to do it for us?
How much do the visas cost?
Thanks, and sorry if these questions have been asked a million times before.
It's all here
Mostly about when we should apply. I am assuming that as it is a six month visa we can apply now?
