http://www.indiavisa.co.uk/visa_form.php

If so, how long am i to stay, i want to stay 2-3 weeks hopefully.

If i do it online, how long does it take to come back to me?

Thanks

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/ It says 2-3 days to return it if you do it now.
Dont do it now if you are not going till Nov as its when the receive it you have the Visa stamp. If your going in Nov do it 3 weeks before you go .
Just tick the box for a 6 months multiple visa.
Have a look on here at the Visa thread so you fill it in correctly. http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=109916. Lot of reading but if you dont fill it in properly it will come back to you not done. Everything you need to know is on there.

Goa is a beautiful place. I went there few years ago. But than the visa process was much easier than now i think. Anyways everyone should once go to Goa. Its a nice place for holidays and relaxing.

IMO, the VISA process has never been easier than now even though my application was initially rejected last year.
I will see how I get on this time around ! ;)

 Well I be getting mine started a lot earlier than last time,& remember to add the parents details(even though single parents). There was also the dreaded post strike to add to the worry. But no probs: it certainly won't put me off. :tup

Well, off to a flyer...talk about eat my words ! I can't get past the "I agree" page at the moment, I'm getting an error exception type message. :think
With a few months to go no need to panic !!!!!
I thought I would just make sure last years application has been cleared off the system before entering this years.

Well, I am already in a bit of a pickle.... and I have to admit it's my fault I guess. Over confidence !!!!

Filling the VISA forms should be straight forward as long as you have your passport , plus hotel details of where you are staying ( you need the postcode) You also need to know where your parents were born, and in the case of a joint application, your spouse's.

From then on it's plain sailing :think ..... once you manage to enter the security code which is sometimes difficult to read and is case sensitive.

Next it's a case of answering the questions correctly, and, in many cases you seem to be repeating the same information, so keep concentrating because it's easy to put arrival dates instead of departure dates etc if you go into auto mode.

There are three areas that make you stop and think
1) Names of sponsors
I don't believe that you need to fill this in for a tourist VISA so I put NA to each answer. You can't leave it blank or it will be rejected. Don't use commas, full stops, forward slash etc.

2) The names of 2 British referees
Two years ago I left this blank and didn't have a problem. Last year my application was rejected as I hadn't put any in. It was explained they were needed in case of emergency. Cost me another £20 in postage but hey ho, sister and son did nicely ( again you need their addresses handy)

3) The names of 2 Indian referees
Two years ago, and again, last year I left it blank ( well, put NA actually) and it wasn't a problem.
This year I left it blank too, but having printed off the form had second thoughts. For the sake of filling it in instead of putting an NA I might save the application from being rejected again. Who knows who might deal with my application, what their mood might be or how pedantic their approach. The guidelines say all questions must be answered so I decided I should try.
I'm not sure who I was going to put as my Indian referees, it's not easy especially if you haven't been before. I decided to stick my hotel manager and address in one box even though you have already given an address for where you are staying. I hadn't decided on the second one.

This is were I got unstuck.

I had taken a note of our application numbers prior to printing off the forms ( very important that you do) because with this and your passport number you can log off and return to your application later. Unfortunately though, despite getting me back on a couple of attempts to the "pay on line" page, I can't get back to the "amend application" bit.

As yet I haven't paid, I could do and send the applications as they stand, however, with time on my side, I have e mailed VFS Global to ask them if I do need Indian referees.

I'll let you know the answer when I get one !

PS It still should be easier applying on line for the majority, I used to have a 300 mile trip to both deliver and then return to collect my application in the past.

Put No or NA ...it only applies if you want to go to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands

In answer to the questions I have posed I got a reply today. Very speedy !

Please note, if you are unable to make any corrections or changes online then you can take a print out of your online application form & make the required changes manually by pen. Once done you have to cross sign against the corrections.

Please note for referee in India field you need to mention at least 1 referee. It can be the hotel name or the details of your friends, relatives, etc you will be living with. If you have not booked a hotel, you need to mention ‘Hotel Booking on Arrival'. It is advisable not to put names of the tour operating companies.

So in summary make sure you have given 2 UK referees and 1 Indian one. I was right to think again !

Just been back on line to complete ( well amend) the applications and did so no bother at all. I had arrived at the page where it tells you the cost and I was afraid of going beyond here, thinking I was committed to pay at this stage. You are not ! The next page allows you to access the forms to modify them .
No need to wait...get applying now ! You can get everything ready to pay then post off when you need to

I knew it was easy :tup :tup :tup

Hi Dave
I may be wrong but I am think that VFS only hold on to online applications for a couple of weeks then delete them if payment hasn't been recieved

Yeah it is a very active forum. I like it. I was searching for this kind of active forum for many days. :tup

You may well be right nejulie, although last year getting them off the system was the problem !

Anyway, I posted mine last Thursday and got them back, complete with VISA's today, Wednesday. Used the Post Office.

So, if you follow my experiences you should have no problems.
Just remember, read the instructions they give ( particularly if you are applying for children's VISA's... you need covering letters giving permissions as you can only send 2 passports in one envelope)

but most important "If In doubt fill it out"

Good luck everyone.........I'm on my way :sun2 :sun2 :sun2
