Couple of things.

Someone has told me you need some sort of a Visa if you want to go Scuba Diving or ride the Quads. Is this true?

The other does anyone know what the minimum age foe scuba diving is and any recommendations?

Is it best to book these with the rep from the hotel?

i think you only need a visa if your going outside of sharm like to pyramids and such think the scuba is 12 to 14 minimun age depends on height i think from what ive been trying to find out dont quote me tho probably be cheaper to book outside the rep to be honest mostly are cheaper to book outside were ever you go

We were told you only need a visa if you are going to be leaving the Sinai Peninsula - going to Cairo, Valley of the Kings etc....not sure about the Quad bikes. They are in the desert which is nearby but there was no mention of a requirement for a visa in the little brochure they gave out at the welcome meeting. You get a free visa on arrival and if you want to go elsewhere within Egypt then you have to upgrade it.

My guess is that for the most part the upgraded visa is not required unless going to Pyramids, Valley of the Kings poss St Catherine's Monastery (not sure because that is where Mt Sinai is - which by definition sounds like it's in the Sinai Peninsula)

Scuba diving - not sure about age limits there. There is company called Aquarius on the beach next to the kids club who do Scuba trips to Ras Mohammed Park, Visa is not required for that - they told me although you have to take your passport as it will be checked by the police. I saw loads of scuba divers round there when we went on the Seascope submarine trip - superb fish!!!

I found it to be almost the same price between the rep and Aquarius for the Seascope - went with First Choice only because I wasn't confident on the health and safety regs in Egypt so wasn't sure about insurance etc.....

Certainly the health and safety is very different out there - ie there seem to be very little rules, you can get allsorts in the pharmacy - in the window it said Steroids 'BOGOF' :)

:offtop Once again can I remind you to stay on topic of Holiday Village.

Question regarding Diving and Visa's have their own dedicated topics where there are lots of answers to questions asked and you can also ask relevant questions there.

Sorry Mr Mod - just trying to help :)

Yes, the HV Red Sea is also known as Coral Sea Holiday Village

yet the hv is dearer than the coral sea on first choice website

I think there is more than one hotel called Coral Sea in Sharm - defo one is closed for refurbishment - that's Coral Sea Resort (reopening as something else next year) plus another one is opening next year - it's one of those Splash ones I think.

There is a coralsea resort, the holiday village and the other one is the coralsea imperial which used to be called the conrad. This is being turned into the Sensatori and is due to open in February 2011

Yes they do and it's quite expensive - eg £4 for a can of Stella (Egyptian Stella - not Artois)

Reply
Yes, towels in the rooms - usual white ones of various sizes plus nice fluffy brown beach towels you pick up from the pool huts with your towel tokens you acquire when you check in.

Hi, can someone please tell me if the manager (?) who i used to e-mail is still there, Ramy-moris. Is he still the person to contact regarding up-grades?

Don't let the bad recent reviews put you off - remember more people will write a bad review than will write a good review!!!
We had a great time there and we got back 2 weeks ago!!!

And yes, Ramy is still there - he replied to my emails re upgrading. Not sure how successful you'd be trying to upgrade as it was very very busy when we were there....always worth a try though. The swim up rooms looked superb
