There will be the usual free live music events and fireworks over the weekend, this is a regular event. They won't announce who's performing until around the middle of November.

As you haven't been for a few years, you might like to know that the fishermen's huts and the fish market near the pier have all been demolished. The area is now a large open space and the stage is put up with its back to the sea, rather than on the beach. The NYE concert proceedings are much better organised now, with an increased security and first aid presence. The crowd last year was estimated at 85,000 but there are still almost no toilets!
