Obviously still faithful to the old BT slogan - It's good to talk.
Can anyone get a word in edgewise?

It's Fiona a long serving member who was a Mod before she gave up modding this year.

20286 members who have joined and not posted :que Even halving that number (say the rest were just browsing) that's an awful lot of people not contributing. I wonder why. Perhaps one of these members could be persuaded to post and tell us why they have joined us but not offered anything. They probably would be surprised to find out that they could still teach us 'old-timers' a thing or two.

So, lets try and encourage them to join us :cheers

in the short time that i have been a member I too have been amazed at the " one " poster's that ask a question and dont have the manners to pop in and say thank you, or tell us if the answer they got was helpful...............
2nd... this is a very very busy community, going by the numerous posts each day and i dont give a second thought to those members who join, and dont add to the boards. For some it may just be a bit of nerves in adding their first post, but their drive to join would surely in itself get that member to post..............this is also a very friendly site with the more experienced members giving a lot of their own abilities in answering queries and looking up this and that to assist us members asking a question..............When i joined last year i got myself into a dizzy ref easy jet.
joined, asked for advice, got it replied within 24 or less hours,

ref my first sentence on not giving thanks, I suppose there again even in the real world, there are many like that

We are drifting off topic with this but the comments re "one post wonders" is very relevant. Have a look through this one that has just been revived.

The OP posted once and has not even revisited HT since. Now the company they were alleging were "rubbish" have posted a reply that is very interesting. As someone has said there are two sides to any story. Elsewhere we are discussing TripAdviser and their proposed legal action. It is very easy to post a comment and fade back into the ether but many of our one posters do exactly that.

Yes we do get topics that some (including me) consider a waste of time but, as with this one, whilst going off topic do bring forward some very interesting points.

For those who disagree with the subject of "boring/waste of time topics" have some sympathy for those who moderate them. They have to read them to ensure they don't break the T&Cs - and a boring job it can be.

Looking back through the archives I found quite a few 'one post wonders' back in 2004, when a great many people had received a message on their answer machines from a charming gentleman called Mr Saunders informing them they had won a cruise round Spain and giving them a 09** number to ring at £1.50 a minute (though he omitted to mention that bit).
