Hi,

I am applying for my visa so that we can go to goa in December. I will need to renew my passport in February 2011, and wanted to go back to goa in April, will they put the visa in my new passport? Would I have to take my old passport with visa in it? Or would I have to apply for another visa?

Any help would be appreicated.

You will need a new passport now, as it must be valid for at least six months, in order to be given a visa.

Agree with Lassi. You need to get cracking. Your passport will need 6 months remaining on it when you return.

When you apply for your new passport, they will add the unused time onto it, so it will be vaild for 10 year and X months.

THEN you apply for your visa which will cover both trips.

Think your leaving it a bit late but this happened to me a few years ago, you need to renew your passport now and then apply for your visa as both can take up to two weeks each :tup

Another thing to throw into the mix is that I've heard of some people who applied for a visa with a new passport being asked to send their old pasport in to VFS, which has delayed the application process.

Hudo, I hope you're now looking into your passport renewal as you won't be granted a visa on a passport that expires Feb 2011.
VFS website says your passport should be valid for a minimum of 190 days with at least two blank pages.

We had to get new passports just before applying for our visas. I took them in person to the VFS Scottish office in Edinburgh, and they never mentioned seeing our old ones. Mabey it's a postal thing, or it just depends if it's a Jobsworth that deals with your application. As in all things Indian, who knows

It was just something I read on (I think) Tripadvisor that happened to a couple of people, but if you're tight on time, having your application sent back for further documentation is the last thing you want to happen.

I think you're right about 'jobsworth', Gramps - all sorts of reports on Tripadvisor about some applications being accepted without question but an identical one being rejected.

One guy went in person to Birmingham and was told he HAD to put 2 Indian referees when lots of people had just put NA for the 2nd one.

It can certainly be a minefield.
I was telling some friends yesterday about the application process and some of the problems other people have had and they said 'you all must really love that place to jump through all those hoops to get there' - which I guess says it all.

I am sending my visa application form off can anyone tell me if it is acceptable to staple photos in the space provided on application form.

Thanks

I don't know if it's 'acceptable' but I wouldn't risk it as they might then consider the photos as 'defaced'.

I just use a paper clip.

can i send 4 applications in one envelope?

all i can see is a statement that they will only return 2 per envelope, we have paid for courier return so that wont matter.

any ideas, cant see why not?

cheers,h.

Hi think you should stick to the 2 per envelope as it states to be on the safe side :think

it doesnt actually say that though?

in fact, it doesnt say anything about sending them really, just return, but we have paid for 2 returns anyway.

anyone sent more than 2 passports in one envelope?

Hi you can send the 4 in the same envelope its only on the return that they will only send 2. I think its to do with the weight of the postage two passports only weigh 100gms so VFS know that if the minimum postage is on each envelope they send out there shouldnt be any problems on the delivery side of things.

i assumed the reason was for postage wights on the return

we have an application for myself/wife and a seperate one for the outlaws, both in seperate envelopes with the primary applicants address on the front of each envelope.

will pop them both in one envelope and send them tomorrow sd.

first time in just over a year so ive missed the place, had to cancel our last trip due to the volcano!
