Please can someone help or advise me what I am doing wrong. Visa application returned as we need a letter if we are in the police force, armed forces, photographer, actor airline staff or journalist. As neither husband or I are in any of those categories. (Civil Servant and Local council) I am at a loss as to how to reply. Any chance of a telephone number for VFS Global?

there is a 95p a minute phoneline on the website but I have heard they aren't always helpful - I suppose it depends who answers.
Maybe you need letters from your bosses to say what your job is and that you actually do and that you .are not going to work in Goa.

Help does port of arrival mean goa or the airport in the uk that you have arrived from eg manchester. Thanks denham

Visa status still showing :- Application created Nov.8th 2010 -:Beginning to think I may have made a mistake somewhere in the application
I think I know what has happened, when applying for visa I was asked how I would like passports to be returned I clicked onto S.D.E. thinking that the cost was added to my visa charges. I sent the two addressed S.D.Es. for the return of passports but they have not been paid for.Could anyone tell me what I should do next.
Before realising my mistake I emailed V.F.S.to ask if there was a problem with my application, as the status was still showing as above.
Would it be better to email them again or wait for them to reply to my first email.

the preacher.. just CHILL!! its not just you.... i am sure your visas will be fine, i sent my mums 2 weeks ago approx 14th Nov and the application was created Oct 26th and is still showing as App created oct 26th... nothing more ...so just be patient a few more days, they will contact you if there is a problem or return the passports..I am sure all will be well really 
and if u haver paid for the SDE at PO then there is no problem with them ...

Been up to P.O.explained to them, showed receipt, and they confirmed I had only paid for one S.D.E. and not the two to be returned.So will just hang fire for a day or two, and see what happens

A friend of mine didn't send enough money last year - postal orders - but she got them back ok.

When is it you are off to Goa The preacher is it getting to the panic time ! i have had to wait 2 years to get back there lucky to say that i am sorted and going on the 14th of December.

Were off on the 11/2/2011, so not really panic time, it was just the fact i didn't know what i had done wrong .
All this new stuff that's needed to be done , its a bit off putting but if its a place you like going its worth the time sorting it out, i am just glad its not at the last minuet that's when it panic time .
Took my application up to Goswell Road, Victoria on Wednesday. Checked today and they are ready for collection. 2 days I don't think thats bad. When it works it works and we are lucky to live near London as posting them seems to be a bit of a nightmare.
Referring back to the new larger size photographs that are required for visas, has anyone had to pay for the new size and how much did it cost?

do they want tourists in India i mean i thought all passport sizes were the same every where
now Ive got to start again look as it we don't go till late January but its getting ridiculous

hi just to let people who like me didnt know
that now your normal run of the mill passport photo is not sufficient for your new visa
it now has to be 50mm which is almost twice the size of the ones we use for everywhere else in the world
