I've been experiencing the same with trying to track my parents application.
We cannot submit our application until the 3rd of December and reading the VFS website it looks like the goal posts are about to change from tomorrow, making our application interesting no doubt!
I think that this is perhaps the reason the tracking service appears to be done, they are obviously making changes to the website.
1. after filling in your Visa online you must print it off using only orange paper.
2. you must send a copy of your flight tickets with your visa application
3. HRH Queen Elizabeth must sign a decalration stating that you are a tourist and currently reside in her country
4. You must sign a decalaration that while in Goa you must not do the following
a. Drink honey bee
b. Sit on a sunbed no longer than 40 minutes
c. look at any diamonds
d. purchase fake designer bags
e. ask how much a taxi is
5. When in Goa you must sponser a beach dog and pay the shack owner £321.97 on arrival to the beach within the first 24 hours
6. If you decide you would like a dog for life and not just for Goa you may take one home with you free of charge , however before departure the dog must have a visa which you can obtain by flying home to the UK and filling out 23 forms on line and pay £1234

Tracking visa application, still only reading :- application created Nov 8th 2010 -: Posted them on Monday 12 Nov. according to Royal Mail tracking my application was signed for on the 16th Nov. Does anyone know why it is still at created stage.
done my visa online 1/11 2010.
been tracking my visa on line
aplacation aplied for the 1/11/2010.
Not just me then
The message on mine didn't change for about a week, fortunately have them back now, seemed slower this year for some reason - thought they were going to do a 'Mike' on me.
friends of ours posted 8/11 not recieved them back yet and they fly next sunday
Perhaps it's because they have been concentrating on changing the form and everything else has slowed down. I've had the same with tracking my parents application. We can't make our application until the beginning of December as we need our passports before then. Planning on filling in on line and making an appointment to drop them off. I have looked at the new form, only in as much as the first page, and hopefully it doesn't look too difficult. I was hoping that they might announce the change today was going to be visa on arrival
Posted mine on 9/11 Tracking stated on 16/11 that application under process effective 15/11 returned on 19/11 thats 11 days including time in post
The 2 photos need to be 2"x"2 which are larger than the normal passport type photos you get in a photo booth.
From what I have been reading on other forums, these cost a bit more to get done, so more expense!
filling in on line and making an appointment to drop them off, took them Wednesday and got them back Saturday cant wait for the 14th December
normal passport photos is all we sent and got the visa's don't know what that's about.
The new photo size is all part of the changes to the visa application form that started today!
I have always printed off our photographs from digital photos on my pc, therefore they can be resized easily as needed. Never had a problem with this. I do print them on photo glossy paper.
A problem though for the people who don't have a digital camera, printer or p.c.

That's not too many nowadays, but yes there are people who don't have access to these facilities. It does seem though that no matter what way the visa system is presented there will inevitably be people who will find it difficult one way or another and others who seem to look for the pitfalls and indeed enjoy finding them. I daresay that if visa on arrival was made available to us there would be problems with that also.
I was just pointing out that you can produce your photograph at very little expense if you are lucky enough to have access to these facilities. My experience of applying for visas on 12 separate occasions has been relatively straight forward, as long as you take your time and keep a copy of your responses for reference.
However with the change in procedure for applying for a visa making access to a pc and printer compulsory it is now academic
Can you imagine how long it would take to get through immigration if it was visa on arrival. It takes them forever to process you now and all they do is glance at you & your passport, I dread to think what would happen if you bring money into the equation and I suppose you would have to pay in £'s as you cant get rps from the bank.........
Visa status still showing :- Application created Nov.8th 2010 -:Beginning to think I may have made a mistake somewhere in the application.
