it may also be useful to know which brochure/range/brand name this was sold under.

TC seem to have gone out of their way to not display T&Cs on their website this year. So you'll need to find them in your paperwork.

If we assume that losing most of the food and drink you thought you'd paid for is classed as a major change then the likelyhood is that you have limited choices. Either a different holiday - which you've already said won't work - or a full refund. And there ought to be a small amount of compensation for the late notice. That's the industry standard and I wouldn't expect much variation.

You get nothing for not meeting up with the rest of the family who weren't party to the contract.

The booking conditions are there, but only when you get to the payment page. I presume that is because they sell more than TC holidays, and other companies terms and conditions vary from their own.

I agree with steve. Presuming it is classed as a significant change there is not a lot they can offer you, especially if you don't want a different holiday.
It's very inconvenient when things like this happen, but at the end of the day, it is the hotel that has changed the way it works, and there's not a lot TC can do about that in the short term.

But surely the poster should at least be reinbursed the difference between the cost of the AI holiday booked and what is now being provided, as well as some compensation for the inconvenience. Providing less for the same price is no different from increasing the price of the holiday, which I believe to be illegal once all monies have been paid.

You would have thought so but that never seems to be an option. The Tour Operators usually allow you the option to cancel and have a full refund, or to have a different holiday of the same value (but if you bought an early booking offer that's not a lot of use when prices are now higher) or to continue with the holiday under the new terms. That last bit is implied and they don't shout about it! They will say they haven't just jacked the price up because they allow the chance of walking away with a refund rather than accept the new terms. It is one of the perils of booking early.

I seems they always have a 'get out' clause, whereas the customer is hemmed in with restrictions and prohibitive charges if they need to change anything. :-x
