I use Santander and they do charge you to draw money, I can't remember how much but bear in mind, if you withdraw small amounts each day it will soon stack up - I think (and I stress 'think') it was around £3.00 per withdrawal. So even if you withdraw every 2 days, over 14 days that will be £21. Not a huge amount but that would get you a decent meal plus drinks - better off in your pocket than the banks...
If you don't like the idea of cash, take travellers cheques, then at least if you loose them, you will be covered.
