I couldn't agree more prawn, but it can also have more tangible benefits, since it gives the impression that it is not your first visit to the country. :D

Well folk Anne and i have booked up again :yikes
Just returned from TC. Got 2 weeks in Yasmine at the Iberostar Belasarie, for a change.
We normally go to PEK which we do like, but thought we'd try Yasmine.

Aslemma, we miss each other again :duh going 14th Oct -28th. Already booked for PEK in April 13.

Prawn, here is a link to some Tunisian words and phrases. Have a great holiday as i'm sure you will.

Oh dear Jimmy, I guessed that would happen but I really can't get out any earlier. In any case as you know Sousse is my area and I do like to be able to catch up with local friends, I'm sure you'll have a great time in HY but Sam will be sorry not to see you and Anne this time, All being well I may be back again in April so we may meet up then inshallah.

:offtop I'm off to Denmark for a week on Saturday - weather forecast RAIN. :duh

The deals for HY was better than PEK this time Aslemma. We did say we would try Yasmine, so time will tell.

Thanks for the link, Jimmy. :) Really excited now - just double checking (for the second time!) that my taxi is booked for the airport and re-checking (for the 50th time!!) that I have all my paperwork in order.

Will be sure to report in when I get back! :cheers

Now just relax prawn dear. I'm sure you will have a lovely time. You've still got a week to go so if you want something useful to do you can practise your Tunisian vocabulary. :sun2

Aslemma (which I have learned means 'hello'), I never relax from the moment I book the holiday until I am in the hotel and then I just switch off altogether! :sun2 :cheers

Will certainly be practising my Tunisian - if all else fails I will fall back on my limited schoolgirl french!! ;)

Actually most Tunisians, particularly in the main tourist areas, speak quite good English, (and French, German, Russia, Swedish, Dutch etc.) but French has been their second language for generations so it is useful to have a knowledge of that.

Going to Kanta Resort at Port el Kantaoui on September 8th flying from Newcastle. Thomas Cook don't provide details about excursions online unlike TOM, I am very keen on visiting the ancient ruins of Carthage and also the Star Wars filming locations. The latter I imagine would be a two-dayer.

If you have a rep they will have a list of excursions for which you will be encouraged to sign up, as that's where they make their money, but a lot can be done independently making use of the very cheap trains, buses and louages (shared taxis). Star Wars was mainly filmed around Matmata which will actually be included in the Sahara excursions but many people have been disappointed if Star wars was their main reason for visiting. You can get to Carthage on the train from Sousse. Here's a link to the train timetable which you might find useful:

You've still got a few more months before you go so there's plenty of time to ask any questions you may have and I'm sure we'll do our best to help.
