Aslemma (which I have learned means 'hello'), I never relax from the moment I book the holiday until I am in the hotel and then I just switch off altogether!

Actually most Tunisians, particularly in the main tourist areas, speak quite good English, (and French, German, Russia, Swedish, Dutch etc.) but French has been their second language for generations so it is useful to have a knowledge of that.

Going to Kanta Resort at Port el Kantaoui on September 8th flying from Newcastle. Thomas Cook don't provide details about excursions online unlike TOM, I am very keen on visiting the ancient ruins of Carthage and also the Star Wars filming locations. The latter I imagine would be a two-dayer.

If you have a rep they will have a list of excursions for which you will be encouraged to sign up, as that's where they make their money, but a lot can be done independently making use of the very cheap trains, buses and louages (shared taxis). Star Wars was mainly filmed around Matmata which will actually be included in the Sahara excursions but many people have been disappointed if Star wars was their main reason for visiting.
