you def collect them in Mumbai on way out. To be safe, have 3 hours between flights. On the way back this time we collected our luggage as we had a layover but we have previously booked our luggage from Goa straight through to Aberdeen.

Thanks both! Darren I trust your knowledge over my automated eticket any day!

Fiona, BA have booked us on the jet airways with 2.45 mins. I can only assume that jet and BA have a link or something

My husband and his friend are going to India on November 4th and flying from Heathrow to New Delhi, India on flight no. BA143 departing at 1145. His friend was wondering what type of plane they'll be flying on. Can you help with this please? I checked your What Aircraft Am I Flying On forum, but it doesn't mention BA.
Many thanks.

As BA operate so many different types of aircraft, we don't include BA on the guide. BA actually publish the aircraft type scheduled on their website via the booking process so they can see for themselves what is scheduled for their flight.

BA flight from Heathrow to Mumbai on 4th November at 21.45 is now cancelled. Alternative flight is the one leaving about 10 am. Not ideal as it makes arrival in Goa early morning as opposed to mid afternoon.

Hi greenshoes , it appears that they have 2 daily flights every day , but on random days there is only the morning departure , unfortunately your date of Monday 4th is affected , if you wanted to avoid the BA139 at 10.15 and stay on the BA199 at 21.45 can you not change to Sunday 3rd or Tuesday 5th , or is that not an alternative that is suitable ?

BA are currently operating the A380 to Frankfurt from heathrow on selected flights and the B787 to Stockholm on certain flights - indeed the 787 arrived at Edinburgh today I understand on a promo visit.

Take your chances (as flight equipment can vary) but I have chanced my arm for the 380 to FRA later this month!

Apparently if you ask they will show you round the plane ( inside !!! ) as they are only using the lower deck at the moment .

Had a good trip down to FRA on the 380 on Thursday morning first thing. The big "whale" had a flying time of only one hour and five minutes from LHR but that was time enough to settle into the Business Class cublicle (backward facing for me) and have a hot breakfast and a couple of champagnes before getting the tour of the aircraft including upstairs where the crew for the return journey back to london were "chilling".

While it is impressive (especially WT+ upstairs) I still prefer Emirates Business Class to be honest. First class was also impressive.

The return trip on Friday evening was also with an enthuisastic crew and took one hour fifteen...a bit longer to continue to play with the mechanisms onboard the Business Class seats. The aircraft is very quiet despite being sat (facing backwards) near the wing.

For anyone thinking of booking a trip on the 380 to LAX or HKG and JNB (eventually) this aircraft will be far superior in terms of comfort than the 747 (well maybe with the exeption of Business Class in the upper deck of the 747!).

Thanks for your report Nivsy and great to read of your experience.

We have booked flights to HKG next year on the A380 with BA and although we cannot afford more than economy, like the idea that on BA A380 there are economy seats on the upper deck so we have pre-booked our seats. The economy upper deck seating is a 2/2 configuration so as there are only the two of us, great that we have got a row of just two seats ;)

Indeed Sugababe, the economy seats and lay out upstairs looked just fine.

Interestigly the one 380 aircraft that BA currently has had has a door panal problem today :whoops

Good to read your report Nivsy , I read elsewhere that the plane is really quiet and that WT+ is very good too , interesting that BA have split all classes over both decks , while some have put all business class upstairs .

Aircraft type: 734

734 would be a 737-400??

I'm thinking of upgrading to Club Europe (£79 per person) just for the hell of it, but reviews vary greatly so I'm not convinced it would make any difference to comfort, other than the fact the middle seat will not be there!

Hi Pippy that's correct it is a 737 , and have just flown back on one today !! , I always use club Europe , its not as spectacular as Club World by any stretch ! But I use it for my summer flights so that I get points and status for my long haul flights I take in November and March . I would say that for £79 it's worth it for the experience , you will get 79 pounds worth of value in return .
I was on a packed flight today and the service we got was great , once settled in you get hot towels then the drink service , it was followed round with another top up service and then the meal which as it was lunchtime was great and a very nice meal of lamb velouté , also had some wine with it too , a little relaxing snooze and then we landed . If I had to sum it up it was like travel used to be ..... Pleasant and enjoyable .

So you would get access into the lounge if you book club , and being an early flight they would serve a breakfast and drinks , they usually have only the first 4 to 5 rows for club and the seats on the left which are A / C have a small middle " seat " , they are cosy for a couple and the seats on the right are D / F and seat E is unused but full sized , we pick this side and chuck our blankets / pillows on there and use the table for our drinks , there is more legroom than economy and it feels comfortable especially with the extra space you have around you , I suppose if you add up the bits I've mentioned you have to then decide if its worth £79 for you to try , I probably pay a bit more than that for my flights , but then I'm into the scheme and choose to do that for other reasons .

Thanks, Andy :)

There are three of us travelling, so we'll be separated by the aisle, but my mum and sister are happy with aisle seats. I've already paid to choose our Euro Traveller seats and I think I'm right in saying I can choose specific Club Europe seats as soon as I pay to upgrade?
Reply
Yes you can pay to choose your specific seats , and I would imagine as you've already paid you still hold that choice , if there is a problem just phone BA customer services to put it right !! , it will probably show a plan of 4 to 5 rows . You more than likely wont be able to get row 1 D/F , they're always blanked out there is no row 1 A/C but all other rows are in line with each other , only other thing to worry about now is how many bottles of Pommery you can get through :D
